We are all dreamers in our own way but remember their dreams better.
But sometimes we don’t remember dreams. Who has never woken up in the morning with the feeling of having had a dream but not being able to remember it
Or, on the contrary, staying for the whole day with the vivid and almost real memory of a dream without being able to get rid of it
. on the assumption that we all dream . But then, because some of us remember and others do not The answer refers us to the functioning of our brain, which at times “records” our dreams and at others it does not really want to know.
Perhaps because there are precise and attentive dreamers who remember everything and only slightly forgetful dreamers
A study conducted in collaboration by a group of Italian researchers from the “La Sapienza” Universities of Rome, L’Aquila and Bologna, identified the causes of dream recall upon awakening in the frequency of the electrical oscillations of our cerebral cortex during the REM phase of sleep. In order for the person to remember what they dreamed of, the oscillations must be present in the middle frontal areas with a frequency between 5 and 7 Hz. Only if the cerebral cortex presents slow electrical oscillations during the REM sleep phase, people will remember the dream.
However, the study only clarifies the neurological mechanisms of “how” we remember or do not remember dreams, not the “why”.
The professor. Di Giannantonio, psychiatrist at the “Gabriele D´Annunzio” University of Chieti believes that we do not remember dreams because: “Having no memory of a dream does not mean not dreaming. Anyone who does not remember dream images and is the victim of a serious freezing process of deep affective energy, in short, has a very inhibited internal affective life… ”. The relationship that each of us has with our own dream world and completely personal. But sometimes we do not remember the dreams
Very often not remembering a dream can simply depend on a lack of habit of recalling it by the dreamer. Or our dreams can be “inhibited”from other factors: for example a lack of attention to oneself, the exercise of excessive control over one’s own life or that of others, periods of intense stress or anxiety. Even carrying out a work activity that forces us to constantly move, or living in a house in which we are not comfortable, or next to a partner with whom we have a relationship that does not fully satisfy us, could be the cause of the inhibition of memory. of the dream. In situations where it is difficult to indulge in sleep, it is also difficult to dream …however, a scarce dream activity does not necessarily mean that our “hidden impulses” do not harmonize with our conscious life. A good relationship with your unconscious does not necessarily go through a lot of dreaming! To conclude, whatever may be the factor that influences our not remembering dreams, it is important to underline, as always, that what we read should be taken as an attempt to answer our starting question: “why I don’t remember dreams ”, Soliciting a reflection on ourselves aimed at stimulating new behaviors, which maybe can help us remember… have you ever seen !!!!!
