One of the first memories that any lover of flamenco fashion has stored in their memory is that of their first flamenco dress . Orphans of fairs and pilgrimages, our little ones haven’t dressed as flamencos for two years. Some, even, have not even had the opportunity to experience what it feels like to become a whirlwind of ruffles, polka dots and colors . That’s why yesterday was one of the most hopeful and emotional days of We Love Flamenco.
The catwalk, which has already passed its halfway point, hosted an inspiring children’s parade, where the proposals of the firms and designers for the little flamenco girls could be seen. Converted into a model for a day, the little ones wore their flamenco dresses like no one else and spread joy to an audience that has not been happier on all the days of parades than on the children’s .
Really exciting, the children’s catwalk was much more than a showcase for the firms and designers who presented their proposals for girls. The children’s catwalk was a way to recover hope , joy and, why not, the desire to live. Those of us who have spent days soaking up parades since the first day of We Love Flamenco can affirm that what was experienced on the catwalk when seeing the faces of the little ones with their flamenco dresses, had not been felt before.
“In this very special year we could not forget all those girls who have not yet known what it is to dress as a flamenco; for this reason, in this X edition we did not want to leave out We Love Flamenco Infantil”, they explained from GO! Events and Communication when they announced the novelties of the We Love Flamenco catwalk in its tenth edition . Perhaps seeing them on the catwalk after so long was what filled the Royal Hall of the Hotel Alfonso XIII with magic.

This is how the We Love Flamenco 2022 children’s parade has been

Solidarity, the We Love Flamenco children’s parade was held in favor of Unicef, in collaboration with CaixaBank and the La Caixa Foundation, and was divided into two screenings. The first of them was at 6:00 p.m. and included the participation of Rocio Peralta, whose collection Between Cuba and the Philippines goes Carmen, la cigarrera was highly acclaimed the day before, Alfarera , the commercial line of Carmen Acedo, Engalana and Pepa Garrido . The second pass was held at 8:00 p.m. and in it the proposals of Errepe , the commercial line of Rocio Peralta, NOTELODIGO, Carmen Acedo and Pol Nunez could be seen.
The proposals that were seen on the catwalk all belonged to the designers’ own collections for 2022, but, as happens with fashion in general, in flamenco fashion the proposals that are made for women and for girls do not usually follow the same line, especially with regard to shapes .
Faithful to her own style, each designer is committed to adapting flamenco trends to the smallest of the house , who are crazy to finally be able to wear their flamenco dress (many of them demonstrated it during the parades) . Thus, where very tight figures and sizes that are lowered in designs for women are seen, in the children’s proposals that were seen in We Love Flamenco they bet on increasing the sizes and creating much more fluid and vaporous figures .
If comfort is a premise from which we all start, when it comes to children’s flamenco fashion it is something that cannot be left aside. Neja skirts, small ruffles that come out from the waist, some evasé proposals and armhole sleeves with small ruffles are some of the trends that could be seen on the children’s catwalk.
A lot of color, something that has been seen throughout the catwalk, is also something that stands out in the proposals seen on the children’s catwalk. Reds, fuchsias and bougainvillea , turquoise, yellow, combined polka dots, and shawls that return and cross over the bodies are some of the proposals that We Love Flamenca leaves for fairs and pilgrimages in 2022, those in which our little ones will finally be able to wear their flamenco dress for the first time.
Penultimate day of parades, the We Love Flamenco parades continue this Thursday, January 20 with the participation of designers Angela and Adela (7:00 p.m.), Pol Nunez (8:00 p.m.) and Pepa Garrido (9:00 p.m.).
