Since last April 3, the period to request the vote by mail in municipal elections has been open. However, perhaps the previous call for the general elections on April 28 has caused many Sevillians who are abroad or who will not be able to go to the polling station that day to have not applied for the process yet.
According to the Organic Law of the General Electoral Regime (LOREG), the period begins the same day that the call for elections is announced, therefore, in the case of municipal elections, this runs from April 3 to May 16.
However, the next step is the receipt by the voter of the necessary documentation to exercise the vote by mail. And this has begun to produce this week. In theory, between May 6 and 19, voters will receive this correspondence. Once they have it and fill it out properly, they will have to send it by mail and, for this, the deadline is May 22.

Is this a flexible termOn some occasion the Central Electoral Board has extended that term. This is what happened in the last general elections, in which citizens could vote by mail up to two days before. The Holy Week festivity delayed the delivery of the documentation, the post offices collapsed and there were long queues. And that is why it was decided to extend the calendar.
