Fourth consecutive victory at the 2019 European Championship for the Italian women’s national team. On Tuesday evening, in the penultimate match of the Lodz pool, Egonu and her teammates got the better of Slovenia 3-0 (27-25, 25-8, 25-17) . The success allowed the blue to take the lead in group B alone: 4 wins and 12 points.
Tonight the second day of rest for the blue is scheduled, while on Thursday the group stage will close with the big match (20.30) between Italy and Poland: live TV on RaiTre and live streaming on DAZN. The challenge with the hosts will most likely be decisive for the final classification of the group and therefore also to know the name of the opponents of the blue in the round of 16: group B is coupled with that D (Bratislava, Slovakia).

Against Slovenia, the blues took a big risk in the first set, when they were down (22-24) . Mazzanti’s girls, however, did not disunite and reversed the situation. Having escaped the danger, the second fraction registered the absolute domination of the vice world champions. More fought in the third set, Slovenia tried not to let Italy escape, but in the end they had to surrender.
The best scorer of the match was Paola Egonu with 16 points (4 aces), followed by Cristina Chirichella (13 points), very effective on the block: 5 winners. She clears the supremacy of the blue against the wall, 10 against only 1 achieved by Slovenia.

CHRONICLE
In the initial line-up the only novelty was Danesi for Folie, confirmed: Malinov dribbling, opposite Egonu, spikers Sylla and Sorokaite, in the center Chirichella, free De Gennaro.
Italy struggled to find rhythm and Slovenia remained glued to the blue for a long time (14-14). Mazzanti’s girls tried the draw several times, but they lacked continuity and the balance dragged itself up to (19-19). The difficulties of the tricolor reception allowed the opponents to escape (22-24), Italy canceled the two set balls and then went on (25-24). After having wasted the first attempt, Sorokaite and her companions took advantage of the second (27-25).
The second half was completely different, the vice world champions immediately put pressure on Slovenia (8-3). The blues did not make the mistake of the previous set and continued to push, gaining even more advantage (14-4). Malinov made all his forwards happy and the Slovenians had to suffer a very heavy one (25-8).
In the third set, Paola Egonu’s beats pushed Italy forward (10-7). Slovenia proved to be more combative and shortened the gap (15-13). The comeback attempt, however, was immediately stopped by Mazzanti’s girls (18-13), who from that moment on flew towards the fourth consecutive European victory (25-17).
