Flying to Indonesia to do what you love to do must be a difficult but at the same time fascinating choice. And what happened to the volleyball player Veronica Angeloni who, after years at the center of sports and squad news, decided to move to the other side of the world to do what she has always done: play volleyball .
It is certainly not the first experience outside the Italian borders as the Tuscan spiker also wore the shirt of Zarec’e Odincovo (Russia) and Saint-Raphael (France) , before moving to Asia to play for Gresik Petrokimia .
With the Indonesian team he immediately took the reins as a leader by making a lot of talk about himself, leaving aside the rumors of gossip. Veronica took her team in hand . Dynamism and desire to do well meant that the coach gave her a lot of responsibility.
How do you rate these first months in Indonesia
And what is the level of the championship
Indonesia was a great surprise, a beautiful life and sporting experience!
As for the level, I thought I would find myself in a more deficient situation or maybe I didn’t really know what to expect. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw a great organization and a great passion also from the public! The athletes are very technical and a little shorter than us Europeans.
I’m not very good at showing emotions… I find it better to write them… transmit them through a song… or maybe tattoo them on me…. that’s why I want to write here … what Indonesia was for me … It’s not easy to leave suddenly, give up everything and everyone … go blindly without knowing what to expect … but the beauty is right there, in the surprise, in the amazement of a different world, but totally full of emotions, of sweet, smiling people .. magical … I tried to collect the best moments, to face everything with a smile as I always do .. to play down the difficult moments, maybe stifle the tears. . and finally here I am! ready to go home, knowing that I will miss all this … I will miss @hayley_spelman my teammate, I will miss @putrivitriani my guardian angel, the girls, the staff, the coach, my friend @ wahyu.tri.nugroho! I am happy to have entered on tiptoe in a reality that I did not know and to have gradually gained everyone’s esteem and trust! So much so that I became a captain! Which filled me with pride. I’M HAPPY! This is to say: Dare! Get involved! Life always reserves immense surprises… I will miss my Indonesia! And the beautiful thing is that I know that many of you who have lived It through my stories and through my eyes will also miss it…. ❤️ Life always reserves immense surprises… I will miss my Indonesia! And the beautiful thing is that I know that many of you who have lived It through my stories and through my eyes will also miss it…. ❤️ Life always reserves immense surprises… I will miss my Indonesia! And the beautiful thing is that I know that many of you who have lived It through my stories and through my eyes will also miss it…. ❤️

You were able to settle in right away
How they welcomed you
I would say that I have settled in very well. Here the people are cheerful and helpful. I immediately felt part of a group and day by day my companions became linked to me, as I to them.
What prompted you to try an experience elsewhere
I can say that a series of events prompted me to make this decision. For me it is a unique opportunity to be able to travel the world thanks to my sport and then my job.
What is it like to live in Indonesia
And in Gresik
Well let’s say that there are differences with Italy from the point of view of life. From food to religion passing through culture. For me it is a new experience and I try to grasp it at 360 degrees.
Gresik is a very small Indonesian suburban city. Let’s say that during the sporting season my life here is made up of training and lots of movies at home, nothing more.
You have to give 100 percent in the first half of the game. If that’s not enough, in the second half, you have to give what’s left. (Yogi Berra) Let’s go babies

How the preparation for the races develops
And how is the relationship with the coach
During the week there are many training sessions. We dedicate many hours to sitting on the pitch and taking care of the technical aspect. All very different from Italy, here there are more breaks due to the strong heat.
I have a good relationship with the coach based on respect and trust. In a few weeks I became the team captain, one more reason to give my best and lead the group.
Have you ever found yourself in a clumsy situation
Among the many I can tell you a nice anecdote. She was forced to fly to Singapore to get a visa. Obviously all with my translator Putri. Except that, in order to take the long-awaited expiration, we were forced to take 4/5 flights back and forth in less than 48 hours. A trek! (laughs, ed)
It is not your first foreign experience
How do you rate them
All my experiences have been unique and special, some more difficult like in Russia, others that have created authentic bonds like when I was in France and even now in Indonesia. To make something unique, situations need to fit together in the best way.
I can certainly say that every athlete should have experiences abroad because it enriches you technically and above all on a personal human level.
In Italy, where you have the best memories
My best period was certainly in Perugia with Sirio coached first by Gianni Caprara and then by Zoran Terzic. We got a third place in the Champions League. I indelibly remember my first year in Chieri with mr Giovanni Guidetti. I made my debut in Serie A.
You also had the opportunity to play in the national team
. What it feels like to wear the blue jersey
The national team is the greatest satisfaction for me and I think it is for every athlete.
