Washington has implemented a series of measures aimed at strengthening the US military device in Europe, to respond quickly to the tension created by the war between Russia and Ukraine. After the historic decision of NATO to activate military defense plans and the Rapid Reaction Force made up of over forty thousand men for the first time in history, measures aimed at reinforcing the defenses of the countries in Eastern Europe most exposed to any Russian action – Belarusian, the Pentagon, in turn, has further increased its contingent of forces in Europe, bringing the total to one hundred thousand men. The architect of the massive logistical maneuver is the 405th Support Brigade of the US Army which coordinates with other support and sustenance units.
In particular, the 405th Army Field Support Brigade (AFSB) has fully activated its Army Prepositioned Stock-2 sites and, for the first time in the history of the Brigade’s APS-2 program, is tasked with equipping a entire combat team of the Armored Brigade deployed to Europe from the United States.
All four battalions assigned to the 405th AFSB prepared and pushed out hundreds of vehicles and pieces of equipment from their respective APS-2 sites during the second week of February, and now the Brigade is tasked with supporting the 1st Combat Team of the 3rd Infantry Division Armored Brigade deployed to Germany from Fort Stewart, Georgia, as announced by the Department of Defense. THE OTHER DEPARTMENTS INVOLVED
The gigantic logistical effort put in place by the 405th AFSB is obviously shared by other departments, including the 7th Army Training Command, the 624th Movement Control Team, the 16th Support Brigade, the 409th Contracting Support Brigade , the 21st Theater Support Command, the US Army Support Command and numerous other units.
