The military point on the Russia-Ukraine war. The article by Marco Ramius for Rid
The situation on the battlefield in Ukraine does not seem to show any signs of major changes compared to the previous days.
On the Kiev front, despite the influx of 2 Russian marine infantry brigades a few days ago (one even transferred from Vladivostok), the Ukrainians seem to have taken the town of Makariv, about 60km west of the capital. Indeed, it seems that, with a semi-circumventing maneuver centered on the village of Moshchun, some Russian units have closed a pocket in Bucha, Irpin and Hostomel. At the moment, however, it is not possible to verify this news.
Also in Brovary, at the end of a confused night fight, Russian mechanized forces would have been dispersed, and armed civilians would be participating in the roundups still in progress. Moreover, still in the Brovary sector, the Russians themselves have been entrenching themselves for days now, a sign that the offensive is lacking momentum. In the north-east, in a few days, the Chernihiv pocket managed to shrink to the outskirts of the city, now almost completely occupied by the Russians. The city, for some time in an almost total decay of essential services, is about to face a situation that could lead to scenarios similar to those of Mariupol.
Moving to the Donbass, in the Izyum area, still heavily contested with almost daily assaults and counterattacks and if the Pentagon continues to give it up for occupied by the Russians), it seems that Russian troops of navy infantry from the Baltic and Northern fleets are flowing. The increasingly suffering Rubishne, Severodonetsk, Popasnaya and Vugledar are also disputed, while in Marynka a Russian assault, sustained for days, was finally repulsed.
For a couple of days Kramatorsk, Konstantinivka, Avdiivka and Slovyansk have been hit by a peak of air and missile attacks, while in Mariupol the greatest offensive effort would now be mainly centered on the activity of the Chechen troops, bogged down in the gigantic Azovstal and new, as in the first weeks of the siege, in the neighborhoods east of the Kalmyus River. However, the city center continues to be relentlessly targeted with artillery. The city is increasingly isolated, since the south of Zaporizha Oblast has now been cut off from the rest of Ukraine by the grip that insisted on Huliaiopole on one side, and the column from Volnovaha on the other.
It should be noted that Russian sources also confirmed the serious damage suffered by a Project 03160 RAPTOR patrol boat, evidently coming too close to the coast of Mariupol, due to a 9M113 KONKURS counter-tank missile fired by the obstinate defenders. Another sector in movement is that between Mykolaiv and Kherson. While the Ukrainian counter-offensive on the latter stopped fairly soon, some Russian counterattacks took place on the countries of Alexsandrivka and Bereznehuvate, which however are still in Ukrainian hands.
The Russian attempts in the direction of Krivyi Rih, on the other hand, now seem to have taken a direction that roughly follows the course of the Dnipr, with a maneuver so far stopped in the villages of Hannivka and Mala Kostromka and on the town of Zelenodolsk.
