The city of Valencia, from a footballing point of view, has become a real Italian colony. In fact, if we think of the two teams of the Valencian community: Valencia and Levante , there are many Italians who come to mind wearing the black and white jersey of the Taronges and the red and blue one of the Granotes.
The Levante was one of the last hits of the market of the winter session: Giampaolo Pazzini . The former Hellas Verona striker has been bought by the Iberian club and already enriches the long showcase of Italians who have walked the grass of the Ciutat de Valencia stadium .

A rich list of especially forwards. In fact, since 2007 alone, four points have been bought by the club directly from the Italian league. One could even think of almost a formation entirely made up of Italians to simplify how special this situation is.
The first bomber to land in the rossoblu club was Christian Rigano . The Sicilian striker was taken from Messina after a great season in Serie A , thanks also to the advice of another Italian already present in the squad: Damiano Tommasi .
The former Roma midfielder and the current president of the Assocalciatori was the first to embrace the Valencian club’s project since 2006. In fact Tommasiand the Italian who has the most appearances in the club (49).
The Italian comings and goings in particular took place in the 2007/2008 season when the Italian Gianni De Biasi was called to sit on the Levante bench . The Treviso coach was put at the helm of the team after a bad start to the Liga season. The coach tried to rely on the Italians present in the squad, also because the club did not confirm the purchases he had promised in the January market.
In that specific season there were four Italians among the eleven owners. Marco Storari arrived on loan from Milan between the posts. The Pisan goalkeeper, despite the 30 goals conceded in the first part of the season, is the best in the field most of the time. Leading the defense is another genuine Italian: Bruno Cirillo . The Campania defender was taken from Aek Athens; Cirillo was an Italians in all respects . Damiano Tommasi and Christian Rigano completed the quartet in midfield and in attack.
Despite the large Italian presence, the team relegated. Cirillo, Storari and Rigano immediately returned to Italy in the winter market, while Tommasi alone ended the adventure at the end of the season as Mr. De Biasi resigned long before the end of the championship.
To see other Italians wearing the rossoblu shirt, we have to take a leap forward in the 2012/2013 season when striker Robert Acquafresca and defender Massimo Volta landed in Valencia . Not a good experience for both of them who certainly did not leave their mark on the club’s history. Surely Pepito Rossi
did better , who despite a short six-month loan and managed to do well thanks to the six goals scored in the six months of 2016.
He definitely hopes to do well the newcomer Pazzini who has always had a nose for goal. and who wants to cancel the first part of the season spent in Verona in an opaque way.
