The chief inspector of the National Police Alvaro Hernandez Bohorquez died suddenly in Seville this Monday, as a result of a cardiac arrest that he suffered around three in the afternoon. Alvaro Hernandez, 53, was a police officer with extensive experience in the force, and had held various important positions in the organization chart of the Headquarters. He currently held the position of chief of the Nervion district police station.
Hernandez Bohorquez was a very loved person within the Seville Police and his death has been a very hard blow for the many colleagues with whom I work. Before directing the Nervion police station, he was, for example, head of the Hercules Group, one of the most operational units of the National Police in the Andalusian capital, dedicated to surveillance and motorized patrols through the historic center and the monumental area of the city.

Previously, he had been head of the Special Operational Security Group (GOES) and the Prevention and Reaction Unit (UPR), which in Seville is known as the Rayos. Several of the agents who worked with him explained to this newspaper that they are in shock, and remember him as a person very involved in his work. Leave two children.
Under his command, dozens of successful operations were carried out and low-intensity crime in the center of Seville, which consists mainly of pickpockets and negligence, was combated with great success. A few years ago he was in charge of setting up an exhibition of stolen bicycles, which had been recovered by the Police in different operations. That served so that many citizens could recover their bicycles.
Since his arrival, the Nervion police station had also chained a series of outstanding interventions, such as the arrest of a man for a robbery that ended with the death of the victim, those of the group of young people hunting the posh who attacked several minors in the Buhaira Park, the arrest of a man for sexually abusing his partner’s granddaughter and getting her pregnant or the dismantling of a very active gang of robbers.
In Nervion, he was also present during the investigation of the shooting that took place at the doors of the police station, on November 22, 2019, when a man entered the police station armed with a knife and was shot by two police officers. The photograph that illustrates this information corresponds precisely to this event.
The death of this chief inspector occurs just a few hours before the new superior chief of Police in Western Andalusia, Andres Martin Garrido Cancio, takes office, who will be sworn in at ten o’clock this Tuesday morning in an act that will take place in the Government Delegation in Andalusia, in the Plaza de Espana.
