We saw him play his last game a few days ago, when his national team collided with Sweden in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers in Russia
. Today, Arjen Robben confesses that we will no longer see him on the pitch with the Netherlands to bring his favorite team to glory, because he has formalized his retirement. He who knows that he has not also influenced the elimination of Holland at the World Cup. Unfortunately, in fact, despite the great brace of the player, the Dutch national team will remain at home in 2018.
Robben justifies his retirement in this way:
The crystal man lasted a long time. I have thought a lot about this moment that has now arrived. I am 33 years old and I play in one of the biggest clubs in Europe, I have to make certain decisions to move forward, but I think it is the right time to pass the
torch A bitter decision that leaves his teammates, the team manager and the his countless fans.
Robben has a career as a true champion. Undisputed champion of Bayern Munich, he took part with his country’s national team in various competitions for about 14 years, always proving his talent and passion for football.

The career of the Crystal Man
His Orange debut dates back to 2003, during a friendly match against Portugal. But to see him in action and score his first goal with the orange shirt, you have to wait a year. In 2004 at the European Championships, he hit one of the 5 goals that saw her triumph in the qualifying match against Moldova.
Other important goals made his national team cheer during the following World Cups, starting in 2006. His participation gave a turning point to the Netherlands, especially in the competitions of 2010 and 2014 , the years that the player remembers as “the most beautiful and unforgettable “.
In 2010leads his team and his country to the finals, where unfortunately Spain are later crowned world champions in South Africa.
In 2014 , during the World Cup in Brazil, she still manages to get noticed for her braces against the Spanish team that beat her in the previous world championship, marking a moment of great revenge for her whole country. No world cup even on that occasion, but a great triumph for the Netherlands who qualify for third place.
Since then “the crystal man” has still given us really important moments of play. Unfortunately, however, his national team cannot celebrate his entry into the 2016 Europeans and not even in the next world championships that will take place in Russia in 2018.
And so Robben decides that this is the right time to say goodbye to his beloved national team. He leaves behind a string of exceptional results crowned by 37 goals from 2003 to 2017, including 6 goals scored in the World Cup where the Netherlands passed the qualifiers and made their way among the strongest teams to win the title of World Champion.
So let’s enjoy his last double in the orange jersey, made in the last qualifying match that ended a few days ago against Sweden.
