While awaiting the prosecution, the suspect will have an interview, in connection with the prison, with the Reggio defense lawyer, Lalla Gherpelli.
In a September hearing with the judge of the Chambre de l ‘Instruction of the Court of Appeal, his uncle Danish declared: “It is all false” , refusing the request for extradition . Then on January 5th, after opposing for three months, he accepted the extradition saying ” I don’t oppose it, it’s useless for me to stay here” The story Saman Abbas ,Novellara in late April. The young woman had refused a forced marriage. According to her brother’s testimony, she was killed by her uncle, probably by strangulation. But her body has not yet been found.
Saman had already reported the abuse by the family in 2020. She had been hosted in a family home for minors in Bologna, but once she reached the age of majority she had returned home to retrieve the documents and thus be able to finally be free. But her family used her identity card to hold her. At the end of April the girl had returned to the carabinieri station to report her parents. But the police searched her house where she lived 15 days later, on May 5, when she Saman had already disappeared and her family members had already left Italy on May 1 and flew to Pakistan. Only Saman’s brother, 16, remains in Italy. The agreement is to stay in Novellara for a few days and then fly to Pakistan with his 33-year-old uncle. The uncle, Danish Hasnain, indicated as the material author of the crime, disappears into thin air. With him there is also a cousin of the girl, always under investigation, Nomanhulaq Nomanhulaq, 35 years old. The only one who ends up in prison is Ikram Ijaz, Saman’s cousin. The 28-year-old Ijaz, stopped on May 28 in Nimes, France, was on a bus bound for Spain and declared himself unrelated to the disappearance of his cousin and also reiterated this in the interrogation he requested, however, giving explanations that did not convince investigators . At his expense there is the video of April 29 that portrays him with the girl’s other cousin and with his uncle, as he leaves the Novellara cottage with work tools, including a shovel. The hypothesis of the investigators and that they were going to dig the tomb of the young woman, materially murdered by her uncle the next day, according to the accusation.
In June 2021, during the probative incident,Saman’s 16-year-old brother points the finger at his uncle Danish “It was the uncle who killed Saman”. The boy’s hearing took place behind closed doors and was attended by many lawyers and also by his cousin Ijaz, by teleconference from prison. But during the hearing the young man did not point the finger at parents Shabbar Abbas and Nazia Shaheen, but he somehow defended them.
On July 12, 2021, searches were suspended after 67 daysin the area of the Novellara farm (Reggio Emilia) where Saman Abbas’s family lived and where the body of the 18-year-old is believed to be buried.
