The first day of the quarterfinals has passed and the response shows that Spain and Italy go to the Semifinal at the 2020 European Championships , after two very tight and painful matches. At the St. Petersburg stadium , Switzerland – Spain sees the Iberians triumph only after penalties, in a match in which the ever tame Switzerland grabs a draw when all seemed lost. At the Allianz Arena in Munich, on the other hand, Mancini ‘s Italy beat the Belgian squadron and reached a painful but deserved semifinal. Spain and Italy in the 2020 European Semifinal – Switzerland vs Spain
The challenge between
Spain and Switzerland are unlocked already in the eighth minute, with an own goal by Zakaria on the conclusion of Jordi Alba and the game is channeled on the right track for Luis Enrique . In addition to the cold goal with an unfortunate own goal, for Switzerland there is another blow, represented by the injury of Embolo , one of the best, in the 23rd minute . holds the ball and administers the lead and Petkovic ‘s team failing to react. Switzerland wakes up in
the second half and becomes dangerous with a header fromZakaria , very little out. At 63 ′ Zuber thinks about making himself dangerous but goalkeeper Simon is good at sending out; 5 minutes later, however, thanks to a very lucky carom by two Spanish defenders, Shaqiri scores the equalizer with a nice diagonal that hits the net.
At 77 ‘ Freuler makes a totally reckless intervention and leaves his team in 10 but nothing happens until extra time. In the extra time, Spain have several chances to win, like that of Gerard Moreno who sends out. There are others but Sommerproves to be a great goalkeeper and saves everything. Thus he arrives at the penalty kicks where Spain triumphs.
Italy vs Belgium Belgium has a better start also because Italy, as always, needs a few minutes to fuel and increase
the engine revs. At 13 ‘, however, the whole nation rejoices for a goal from Bonucci , on the development of a free kick, but the VAR cancels for offside. At 21 ‘ Donnarumma performs a miracle on De Bruyne, who makes the whole field and throws a nice shot from outside the area; luckily we have this great goalkeeper, who is repeated on a nice low shot by Lukaku a few minutes later.
From here on Italy takes the chair, with Chiesa making himself dangerous with a couple of interesting ideas. At minute 30 there is the masterpiece of Barella who, after the passage of Verratti on a positive transition, jumps two players in a patch of ground and scores with a nice diagonal right. Mancini ‘s team now plays better and Chiesa fires a nice shot that goes out very little; then, in the 43rd minute, Insigne jumps onto the Tielemans trocar and shoots under the crossroads, scoring the 2-0. Italy therefore has the double advantage, thanks to two fabulous goals.
At the end of the first fraction, however, Doku burns Di Lorenzo, that pushes it slightly; the referee whistles the penalty kick and Lukaku converts it, shortening the distance.
The blues continue to attack with a dense network of passes and the referee pretends nothing about a contact in the area with Jorginho, who, using the previous yardstick, was a penalty. At 60 ‘ De Bruyne, the best of him together with Doku , puts it in and Spinazzola performs a miracle by saving on Lukaku . Five minutes later, Insigne frees Spinazzola only in front of the goalkeeper but the Roma full-back wastes a great opportunity.
Mancini sends fresh forces onto the field and the team continues to hold up even if, in the 83rd minute, Dokujump four blue players and shoot a little high. Belgium , however, fails to score and Italy goes to the semifinals where they will face Spain . A very negative note and the injury of Spinazzola, the best full-back of Euro 2020 ; we trust in the skill of Emerson Palmieri , hoping that he will replace him in a great way.
