In the 2017 Skeet Shooting World Cup, the Italian flag still stands out over other countries. Another silver, another trophy: our blue Daniele Resca wins second place in the men’s trap final .
The match proved to be very difficult and fought until the end because the Italian shooter clashed with really fearsome opponents: the Spanish Alberto Fernandez and the Croatian Giovanni Cernogoraz.
Concentration in the race made the difference and one mistake too many in the very last challenge brought Fernandez to the top of the podium and Resca to the second step. The Croatian shooter, on the other hand, earns the bronze medal despite a perfect performance: unfortunately for him none of the three makes mistakes and having the lowest score he has to settle for third place.
In the fight for first place with the Spaniard, the two gold contenders manage to keep the race on par. However, Resca’s mistakes take the Spanish shooter to the top with 48 targets hit and a new world record to celebrate.
With 46 targets hit Daniele Resca wins the silver medalin a really exciting skeet shooting world cup for our compatriots in the competition, who managed to emerge by winning 2 golds, 3 silvers and a bronze.
The carabiniere from Bologna who was crowned Champion at the Moscow World Cup in September obviously hoped to win the crystal ball but is still satisfied with a brilliant season and with his excellent recent performances. Here’s how he comments on this latest race in India:
It was a difficult match because the best shooters of the season were on the platform. The final was hard fought, nobody scored zero and staying in the top three was not easy. However, I am delighted with the result. On my fourth participation, I finally return home with a Crystal Cup. It is the smallest one that is given to those who finish second in these finals, but it is worth a lot to me. Mine was an extraordinary season, which ends in the best possible way

The other Azzurri in the race
And while our Italian enjoys his second place, the other compatriot in the race Giovanni Pellielohe has to settle for fifth place without being able, therefore, to play for the title of champion. A double mistake cost him very dear and did not allow him to go further to win gold.
An even more disappointing match, however, for Simone D’Ambrosio who played his qualification for the shoot-off against Fernandez and Heading, but due to an error he does not win the right to access the final. He closes the world competition in seventh place.
The last day of the finals still leave Italy dreaming: a great success that demonstrates how strong the Italians’ talent is in skeet shooting. And so this world shooting competition also ended definitively with an excellent result from our Azzurri who left an indelible mark on the medal table.
