The JBL Clip 4 is the latest addition to the brand’s catalog of compact bluetooth speakers. More powerful (and with better battery life) than the Go series and more portable, so to speak, than the rest of JBL’s devices ( Flip, Charge, Pulse, Xtreme …). It’s light, has a compact design, a solid carabiner to hook it where you want and an amazing sound for such a small device.
The Clip 4 weighs just 239 grams , making it barely noticeable when you carry it around. It is available in different color combinations and can be used both vertically and horizontally .. For the first case, it would have to be attached to something because it does not support itself vertically; for the second, it has rubber bands on the back to prevent it from sliding on the surface on which we place it (if we reproduce a piece with powerful bass at a considerable volume, we will appreciate the presence of these rubber bands).
The speaker measures 8.6 x 13.4 x 4.6 centimeters, so it fits comfortably in the palm of your hand. It’s designed for the outdoors, hence the carabiner (to clip onto backpacks, bags, or clothing), the rugged fabric that covers it, and the IP67 rating.of resistance against dust and water, so it can easily withstand splashes, rain and even immersion (in one meter of water for a maximum of 30 minutes, according to the technical data sheet).
That does not imply, obviously, that we have to use it abroad. And more in these times. The Clip 4 is perfect to put in your backpack to liven up trips and walks, to enjoy music in groups of friends (please, with distance and a mask and without crowds) and even to take it to the balcony, terrace or garden (the lucky ones have it).
But it is also a comfortable and above all economical way of taking our music to any corner of the home.It is enough to put it on any surface or hang it from anywhere (door handles, for example) and, for about 60 euros (official price, although there are shops that sell it for much less), we have the house with sound. And with a clear, rich and powerful sound . As we said above, it offers surprising quality for such a small device (we have not reached the maximum volume; it has not been necessary).
JBL Clip 4 Bluetooth Speaker
Going back to design, the Clip 4 has a few controlsvery simple: on/off and bluetooth button on one side and, on the front, three more, to raise and lower volume and to play and pause (with two presses of play skips to the next song). At the bottom is a USB-C port for battery charging , which allows up to ten hours of playback (depending on volume and content type) and takes three hours to fully charge.
To sync it with your phone, tablet or any other Bluetooth-enabled device (uses Bluetooth 5.1 ) no app is required. Just turn on the speaker, activate the bluetooth on the mobile and it pairs in a couple of seconds. If we want to edit the sound settingsof Clip 4, we can do it in the sound configuration of the mobile / tablet.
To give it a snag, we will conclude with what Clip 4 is not. It is not a smart speaker, so we cannot control it with the voice through assistants such as Google or Alexa and it does not allow combination with other speakers. Those looking for any of these features should go to higher options in the JBL catalog. Those who instead want an ultra-portable, easy-to-use, rugged device with great sound quality will be more than satisfied with this Clip 4.
