Record attendance for the “Salone”, as it is often called, which once again proves to be not only the most important trade fair in the sector, but also the incubator of new trends. Here’s what he left us.
With over 430,000 visitors in 6 days and an increase of 26% compared to the 2017 edition (Cosmit data), the 57th edition of the Salone del Mobile.Milano saw a truly extraordinary participation, among exhibitors and professionals. Many proposals and suggestions related to the world of modern and contemporary furniture, proposals from which we have extrapolated some strong points that, in our opinion more than others, well summarize the evolution of a world, that of home furnishings, in (new ) great growth, and highlight the trends that we must expect for the coming months. Among new colors, versatile furnishings, a rediscovered opening to the east, the contemporary reinterpretation of traditional materials and an essential opening to increasingly interactive domestic situations,1. Welcome back pop tints
The bold colors and vitamin tints are back. Abandoned, but not entirely, the soft and pastel tones, mint green, coral, purple, sky blue and, above all, mandarin orange are the new inevitable shades that we will soon find on upholstered furniture, small and large, walls and furnishing accessories Of every kind. Sage green and powder pink, hyper chic must-haves of a new sophisticated vintage, do not abandon the much-loved pastel shades. 2. With an eye to the east
The soft shapes and essential lines of Japanese design come back strongly to the fore, if they ever went away. We find them not only on upholstery and furnishings designed by many Japanese creatives, increasingly launched in collaborations with Italian designers and brands, but also in a real style that points to a warmer minimalism, made of natural fibers, pure volumes and colors calm down. A “simplicity of quality” in which the materials are the master, especially wood and paper, but also the simple shapes of low sofas, tatami mats, minimal and discreet separe lamps. 3. The outdoors enters the house
More and more labile separations and ever more passable limits divide indoor spaces from outdoor ones. In this way the furnishing elements are lightened and, freed from precise superstructures, they open up to the changed needs of space and season. Made with new and high-performance synthetic components, or with natural materials, such as rattan and bamboo, all focus on color and light volumes, giving pieces with a great scenographic effect, ideal for completing beautiful terraces, but also perfect for furnishing living rooms and living rooms with great quality and elegance. 4. Wood and Marble 2.0
Treated, lightened, bent and reconverted, wood is undoubtedly the most used material in the latest collections presented. Absolute protagonist, in its thousand essences and facets, and certainly the basic ingredient of new surfaces designed not only for traditional furnishings and accessories, but also for floors and interesting coverings.
The newfound passion for wood is echoed by marble, a great protagonist in the home. Lightened in the surfaces, and made more and more performing thanks to the new processes, it offers objects with a high level of quality and versatility and is the heart of a rediscovered retro style as elegant as it is contemporary. 5. Interactive solutions
Hyper-connected appliances that communicate with each other, furnishings that allow you to perform multiple functions (such as storing objects and listening to music or cooking and working together), but also surfaces with which to interface and “dialogue”, the leitmotif of this latest edition of the Salone del Mobile and “living connected to live better”. There are numerous projects conceived with this in mind, designed to create new interactions aimed at facilitating the daily routine and living better the rooms of the house.
