Whether they have become, so to speak, Renzian differently is not yet clear, but certainly within the variegated galaxy of the Democratic Party currents there is a group of leaders – traditionally close to the former premier – who are moving in this phase. as a protagonist, inside and outside the Democratic Party. And the results, judging by the composition of Giuseppe Conte ‘s Giallorossi government , can be seen. We are talking about Base Riformista, the political area headed by Matteo Renzi ‘s historic right-hand man , Luca Lotti, who, to tell the truth, in the last weeks of feverish negotiations has remained very far from the spotlight as confirmed by his twitter account from which recently only one twitter started to celebrate Ferrari’s victory at the Monza Grand Prix.
Not the same, however, can be said of the current of him who has obtained significant representation within the new executive, with the appointment of Lorenzo Guerini as Minister of Defense and of Simona Malpezzi , Salvatore Margiotta and Alessia Moranito undersecretaries: the first went to Relations with Parliament, the second to Infrastructure and the third to Economic Development. A result celebrated on the social accounts of Base Riformista which, however, raises some questions in this phase of great dynamism in the house where the rumor that Renzi is preparing to leave the Democratic Party to found his own movement has returned with insistence. our conversation with Claudio Velardi ).
Hypothesis to be confirmed on which, however, rumors are wasted describing the former Prime Minister intending first to form autonomous groups in the Chamber and the Senate and then to announce, perhaps already at the next Leopolda in mid-October, the birth of his new political creature. In the event that Renzi finally decides to dissolve the reserve and go down his path, Lotti and his group would follow him or not.
Question to which it is almost impossible to answer at this moment – especially since it is not even sure that the former Prime Minister opts for this solution – but certainly the doubt in the future arises. Because the exponents of Base Riformista, especially in the last few weeks, have become more and more characterized by an autonomous and responsible profile within the Democratic Party and during the dialogue with the cinquestelle, characterized more by the propensity for dialogue than by the vocation to controversy and clash.
An attitude certainly appreciated by Nicola Zingaretti, very committed to maintaining a climate of confrontation and unity within the party and beyond. In a certain sense, it almost seems that Renzism, over time and then more plastically during the government crisis, has been divided into two distinct legs: the original one which belongs to Renzi and Maria Elena Boschi and the second, which we are talking about less in the newspapers but certainly relevant in the karst dynamics of the Democratic Party, represented by Base Riformista. Now it only remains to be established whether they are two sides of the same coin or, directly, two now different medals.
