The warm season has already arrived for a while. Now we just have to rely more on the well-deserved rest that we all expect at this time of the year. And then sun, sea, holidays and – of course – sunbathing. When our complexion begins to take on that beautiful golden hue, our appearance can only benefit immensely. But exposure to the sun must be controlled, otherwise you risk burns and terribly unsightly situations. Here are the tips for a perfect tan. Tanning: begins gradually
The most important advice to follow is to gradually expose yourself to sunlight. In fact, if on the one hand you fill up with beneficial substances such as vitamin D with the sun, on the other hand it can cause damage if it is taken all at once. It is clear that living in the city or in the countryside can make a difference in this case. If you live in an accommodation you are unlikely to have a skin accustomed to the effects of the sun. While those who have the habit of spending time in their garden, because they live outside the city, will certainly be able to expose themselves with less gradualness. For this reason, those who are not used to it should start with sun baths of about an hour a day, increasing exposure for twenty minutes per week in the first week.
- Did you know…
In the first days of exposure, our skin gives rise to a transient tan caused by the small reserves of melanin. Only after a week the real tan begins to form and will last longer.
Tanning: check the hours of exposure
The time of exposure is essential if you want to have a good quality tan. Exposing yourself during the hottest hours, in fact, can give rise to burns which – in addition to damaging the skin – will prevent the formation of that beautiful golden complexion we all wish for. So if you find yourself in a seaside resort, start going to the beach around 7.00 and continue until, at the latest, 12.00. In the afternoon, the ideal would be to start the exhibition around 16.00. Tanning: Protect the skin
The skin must always be protected from the sun’s rays. This is especially true for people who have a fairly fair complexion and who live in cities during the rest of the year. Those who live in the countryside and spend a few hours in the sun, throughout the rest of the year, may not have any need for sun protection or, in any case, have significantly reduced it. Everyone else should take care to use special creams with a higher protective factor in the first week. If you have a fairly dark complexion, you may not need to use any protection the following week. However, since each case is a case in itself, if you have any doubts, it is better to ask your dermatologist for advice.

Perfect tan Tanning: get moving
If you want to get a perfect tan remember to get a lot of movement. What you get after lying on the beach bed will never be totally uniform. So get into the habit of playing on the beach, taking healthy walks and, from time to time, taking a few bike rides along the sea.

The skin, especially at the sea, tends to become very dehydrated and dull. To keep your tan at its best, remember to apply oil to the skin from day one. The best is coconut which also helps refresh the body. It is used in the evening with a light massage until completely absorbed. The tan will be more vivid, beautiful and last much longer.
Finally, remember to keep the body hydrated even with food, increasing the consumption of summer fruits, very rich in antioxidants.
