Will Smith wins Best Actor Awardthanks to A Winning Family – King Richard, absolute star of the evening together with Chris Rock. The physical confrontation between the two, on stage, was consumed by the comedian’s joke about the hair addressed to Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett, who suffers from alopecia. The actor shouted from the theater: “Never say my wife’s name again”, before going up on stage and hitting the presenter. “Will Smith – Rock reacted – he just beat me up. It’s the biggest night in television history.”
Then the actor, in his thank you speech, apologized in tears: “Love makes you do crazy things.”

No Oscar for Italy . “It was the hand of God” by Paolo Sorrentino, nominated for the statuette as Best International Film, was beaten by the Japanese “ Drive my car ” by Ryusuke Hamaguchi. Also the Oscar for the best costumes, which saw the Italian Massimo Cantini Parrini in contention for “Cyrano”, and went to Jenny Beavan for “Cruella”. Nothing even for Enrico Casarosa nominated for the animated film “Luca”, an award that instead went to “Encanto” directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush, together with director Charise Castro Smith.

Ariana DeBose Ariana DeBose , Afro-Latin actress at the forefront of LGBTQ rights, awarded Best Supporting Actress for Steven Spielberg’s musical West Side Story: “I’m the first openly gay black woman to win the Oscar,” she said from the stage. “I, a gay girl, of color, made it this far”. The award was presented to her by Daniel Kaluuya, winner last year for “Judas and the Black Messiah”.

Troy Kotsur Troy Kotsur is the deaf-mute actor to win the award for best supporting actor. It is the second time that a deaf actor has won an Oscar after Marlee Matlin in “Children of a Lesser God” in 1987 and her partner in “The Signs of the Heart-Tail”.
The connection of the Ukrainian president was blurred during the award ceremony – as had been hypothesized – while a minute of silence was dedicated to the war.
