CHILE is located in the southern part of South America. Its western limit is the Pacific Ocean and the eastern one is the Andes mountain range. It is the longest country in the world (with more than 6,000 km of coastline) and throughout this immense territory there are very varied and special destinations such as Easter Island.
When to travel to Chile
The best time, in general,will be spring-summer there.
Documentation
European citizens do not need a visa for a trip to Chile of less than 90 days. The passport must have a minimum validity of 6 months from the date of arrival in the country.
Flights to Chile
The arrival in Chile, obviously, traveling from Europe, is by plane. In about 14 hours you can be at the Arturo Merino BenÃtez International Airport in Santiago de Chile. It is the main airport for long-distance flights. Direct flights are not very cheap, so choosing a flight with stopovers can make the trip much cheaper (but also the arrival at the destination takes forever).
Currency
The currency used in Chile is the Chilean peso . There are many ATMs and exchange houses, so it is better to make the change in the country.
Health
To make a trip to Chile no vaccination is necessary. As for health contingencies, it is always good to carry some travel insurance that covers any of the scares that may arise during the trip.
Gastronomy
Chilean gastronomy is very varied. On a trip to Chile you cannot miss the corn cake, ceviche, pine empanadas (they can be filled with any type of meat or even sweet)… and the typical drink: pisco.
Travel to Easter Island
This island is geographically located in Polynesia and therefore is a territory of Oceania. They call it the Navel of the World (and no wonder). It is known for its famous stone moais and the mystery of how they were moved from their quarry to the place they occupy. It is the most remote island on which people live and is about 12 km long.
You do not need any type of document to enter the island, but you have to be aware that nothing is cheap there .
To move around Easter Island, many people rent a car, others make deals with local taxi drivers agreeing on prices and others take excursions.
The gastronomy is generally based on fish and fruit. Hotels are very basic and generally very expensive, unless you can afford luxury hotels (there are some on the island) that are very unaffordable for a traveler with an average budget.
Easter Island
If you can choose a date for a trip to Chile with an extension to Easter Island, it is interesting to choose February. On that date when the Tapati festival is celebrated . It takes place during the first 10 days of February and serves to publicize the culture of the island. Their dances are especially striking and beautiful.
