2 – Ethnographic Museum
This museum, one of the largest of its kind in Sardinia , was built between the fifties and sixties on the Colle di Sant’Onofrio. 3 – Museo Man

In the museum there are the testimonies of local artists of the twentieth century and a unique collection of drawings and ceramics by Salvatore Fancello. Every year the Man also sets up 4 temporary exhibitions and organizes numerous didactic workshops on graphics and painting.

4 – Museo Deleddiano
Nuoro, wanted to pay homage to the writer Grazia Deledda, Nobel Prize for literature in 1926 , with a museum dedicated to her. Thanks to the generosity of the writer’s daughter-in-law who donated the woman’s manuscripts, photographs and personal objects , the Deleddiano Museum was opened on March 5, 1983. The current exhibition highlights the tormented bond that the writer had with Nuoro and the personal, literary events following her transfer to Rome.

5 – Church of the Madonna delle Grazie
This church, also famous as the ancient church, is located in the center of Nuoro and dates back to the seventeenth century. The building has a rather simple style with a wide and low facade, a portal decorated with stone reliefs and a beautiful rose window just above the portal. Inside there are frescoes of the eighteenth century inspired by the decorations of the early Christian era.

6 – Cathedral of Santa Maria della Neve

The neoclassical building has a beautiful façade with two orders and a double bell tower while the interior consists of a single nave with some side chapels. A 1600 painting depicting the Dead Christ attributed to Alessandro Tirini stands out.

7 – Piazza San Sebastiano Satta
In the historic center of the city is the main square dedicated to the famous Nuorese poet Sebastiano Satta. 8 – Museo Ciusa
This museum is dedicated to Francesco Ciusa , a great artist who lived from 1883 to 1949 in Nuoro, considered the initiator of modern Sardinian sculpture .
Most of his marble works are inspired by the pastoral world and Nuorese customs but there are also ceramic works. The Museum is located inside the former Nuoro court, a large recently restored building which in the past was also the site of an ancient convent. Consisting of 6 rooms, it contains about 60 works interspersed with video projections that allow you to understand the art of Ciusa and his world.

9 – Nuraghe Tanca Manca

The single tower structure was built with granite rocks emerging from the ground and roughly worked granite blocks. Inside there are two opposing niches and one of these was carved out of the rock.

  • How to get there: to reach the Nuraghe Tanca Manna by car it is necessary to head towards the south of the city in Via Martiri della Liberta (about 2 km from the center, about 6 minutes). 10 – Nuragic Complex of Noddule
Not far from Nuoro is one of the most important archaeological areas in Sardinia unearthed in the 1950s / 60s. Once inside the complex it is possible to admire numerous megalithic circles followed by several nuragic settlements up to 10 meters high. The large huts with a large fireplace and some tombs are also clearly visible. Overall, this site allows visitors to have an overview of Sardinian history ranging from pre-Nuragic megalithism to the Roman age passing through the Nuragic period.

11 – Tiscali Village

The village of Tiscali stands on the walls of the sinkhole and is not visible until the inside of the cavity is reached. The site inhabited in the pre-Nuragic age and formed by two agglomerations of circular or oval shaped huts dating back to the 15th and 8th centuries BC

  • How to get there: The village can only be reached by car and then continued on foot. Starting from Nuoro you have to follow the signs for Oliena, get to su Golugone and after 8 km of dirt road leave the car, from here you continue on foot facing a trek of 3 hours round trip.

12 – Borgo di Lollove
A 10-minute drive from Nuoro is the beautiful village of Lollove, a medieval village that has remained almost deserted . Most of the houses are in ruins and only a few remain intact, but walking through the cobbled alleys and stone houses will take you back in time. According to a legend told by the elders of the town, one or more penitents from the ancient monastery of via Bixio were accused of having had carnal relations with local shepherds. Before leaving the village they hurled a curse against the village: “Lollove you will be like the water of the sea, you will never grow up you will never show (to grow)”. And so more or less it was because what remains of Lollove todayit is a ghost town with no post office, pharmacy or bar and inhabited only by a few elderly people .

13 – Church of San Carlo Borromeo
This 17th century building is located in Santu Pedru, one of the most characteristic districts of the city . Nuoro itinerary in one day
The Sardinian capital, for those who do not have much time available, is suitable for a daily visit . We suggest a pleasant route that will allow you to savor the atmosphere of the places where Grazia Deledda lived and set her novels and some scenic areas of Nuoro. Obviously without forgetting some food and wine stops and a little shopping.

Immediately reach the nearby Piazza di Santa Maria della Neve , a 3-minute walk from the restaurant, where the beautiful Cathedral of the same name is located.   • How to get there: The airport and the port closest to Nuoro is Olbia, 100 km from the Sardinian capital. From here, by car, take the SS131 and the SS 131 DCN following the signs. As an alternative to the car you can take the bus that connects Olbia to Nuoro and vice versa in 1 hour 45 minutes (tickets from € 6.00 to € 9.00).
  • Getting around : The best way to visit the city center is on foot.
