The LT, which McLaren sold on request and has already sold out, was such a success for the Woking firm that it has been encouraged to carry out a version that, likewise, will be a short run -also 765 units, like the coupe- and exclusively for those who purchase them in advance.
This new LT convertible has a carbon fiber retractable hard top and electric drive which, by itself, is already the main hallmark of this McLaren. It folds or unfolds in just 11 seconds and can be used at speeds of up to 50 km/h.
You can also raise or lower the window that separates the compartment from the engine, so that the sound of the engine reaches the occupants clearly or not. This is none other than a 4 liter, aV8 biturbo of 765 CV and 800 Nm with which the 765LT is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 s.And the most surprising thing, do it from 0 to 200 km/h in just 7.2 seconds. This is possible because this Mclaren, 15 percent faster than the 720S Spider and the most of all time, has an optimized transmission.
In addition, also compared to the 720S Spider, the 765LT Spider weighs 80 kilos less and only 49 more than the coupe.. This has been possible thanks to the incorporation of light materials throughout the vehicle, as is the case of carbon fiber in the different components of the bodywork. Or the titanium that is used in the exhaust -saves 40 percent of the weight that its equivalent in steel would have-, like the materials in the Formula 1 grade transmission or the finest crystals. To save kilos, neither the air conditioning nor the music system are included as standard, although their inclusion can be requested without extra cost.
To all of the above, this Spider adds a specific aerodynamic package,also made in carbon fiber, consisting of a front splitter and floor, skirts, bumper and rear diffuser, in addition to an active rear spoiler calibrated according to the different roof situations. Thus, the aerodynamic load is 25 percent higher than that of the 720S Spider, compared to which it is 4.8 cm longer, 5.7 if we also count the active spoiler.
In order to provide the best dynamic experience, the chassis has been retouched not only with springs and shock absorbers tailored to the LT, but also wider tracks, lower front height or a unique software for the hydraulic suspension . The rims are 10 spokes as standard and have Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires.
A jewel, in short, only for a few. Not only because of its price, but also because its production will be super exclusive.
