This is one of those movies that the female gender loves no matter what. While I always complain about these movies because they are super dramatic, pointless, predictable, and frustrating; I include myself this time, I love the film Maybe It’s Forever, whose original title is Love, Rosie, released this month and still showing in theaters, directed by Christian Ditter with leading performances by Lily Collins and Sam Clafin, is simply a Wonderful.
Maybe it’s forever is a movie made to remind you what love is made of, well, the love that Hollywood is always talking about; that kind of love that makes all women sigh and want to look for such a man, a hopeless romantic, with the appearance of a model, gentlemanly manners and so shy and respectful, that it may take 15 years for him to declare his love. Of course, the film Maybe it’s forever, appeals to the love that endures over the years, with the maturity of character to polish those feelings of passion to something nobler and deeper.
Ok, ok, ok, everything I say is definitely the female critic of a female film, of those films that sweat progesterone and estrogen in a remarkable way; but that is what this adorable and enjoyable movie is about, LOVE IN ITS MOST POETICAL FORM, by the way if you are in love with someone, with life or love, believe me, it will make you cry in a very emotional way.
You definitely notice the hand of Juliette Towhidi who participated in the adaptation of the novel by Cecelia Ahern, entitled Where Rainbows End, her touch reminded me a lot of the essence of another of the films in which I participated Postdata: I love you, a film whose screenplay is as i told you by juliette towhidi
Maybe it’s forever is a tape, I repeat, highly feminine and almost all its attendance is women. In a movie theater where 99% of us were women and we were all moved to tears by this emotional story of incredible love; those types of love that all women want but are already extinct.
With what other movies can I compare Maybe It’s Forever?, mmmmm, I must confess that I haven’t seen another movie that comes close to this one, surely you remember the recent Daniel Radcliffe movie “Solo Amigos”, the tone of the film of the which we are talking about today, Maybe it is forever, it is very much in that atmosphere, however I must say that the adaptation, the logic and the plot of the story are very good, so much so that they make Solo Amigos look like a very good movie, very vague that fell short.
But the movie that I totally remembered when I saw Maybe It’s Forever, was Like Crazy, starring Felicity Jones with some appearances by Jennifer Lawrence, of course, Like Crazy is a bad execution, A VERY BAD one, of the same story that we can see in Maybe it’s forever, two people who love each other with all their hearts separated by an ocean, from London to the United States.
The criticism of Maybe it’s forever was not very kind, but you have to accept it, there are films that are purely female and this is one of them. A beautiful film that makes you sigh, and many tears, which is why I give it an 8.
Synopsis
What is it about? Maybe it’s forever, it’s the story of two friends who have known each other since they were little, two different but very similar people who, over the years, learned to know and love each other. But the fact of being great friends somehow prevented them from making the leap into a relationship.
So to prove they were nothing, Rosie asks Alex to take the prettiest girl in school to the dance; this triggers an explosive reaction that will last 15 years. But how?
In response to the fact that Alex was dating and sleeping with the prettiest in school, Rosie does the same with the prettiest, and in an accident when her date’s condom gets stuck in her vagina, Rosie gets pregnant preventing her and Alex have a new life in Boston. That simple decision, separated them for 15 years, of course in the middle there is one or another occurrence, many tears and many very emotional scenes.
The cast
Lily Collins’s performance as Rosie was quite moving, it completely erased the bad taste of Shadowhunters from my head and also shook the role I played in Sandra Bullock’s tape a possible dream, as the sweet teenager Collins. Once upon a time Lilly Collins undergoes a major transformation from a crazy teenager to a patient, kind and loving woman. And what can I say about her male counterpart, Sam Clafin in his role as Alex, he completely makes you fall in love with that shy and selfless boy.
My opinion
I have to admit it, there are movies that make catharsis when you see them, that happened to me when I saw this beautiful story of what love should mean, or what a woman looks for in love. Those beautiful stories, so romantic and nostalgic that only listening to them moves you; but it made me cathartic to think that this type of love is already extinct, because those women and men who endure with their saved love, those people no longer exist.
However, believing that this can happen, that love can triumph over time, over the erosion of relationships, over other people, over distance, over monotony; believing that this is possible is what gives us the hope to continue looking for love.
The fact of wanting to find someone to protect your dreams, even the rarest and take care of them, is something that just thinking about it makes you cry.
