Marek Hamsik, the silent farewell of the blue captain

The farewell had been in the air for several months but it came when everyone no longer thought about it.
Marek Hamsik or Marekiaro, as the Neapolitans call him, decided to leave the city of Vesuvius which welcomed him when he was a mere twenty year old boy.
Now he leaves as a champion, he has decided to accept the proposal of the Dalian Chinese .
The sirens of the east had already turned on last summer then, with the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti , everything suggested that it would remain and so it was. After the match against Sampdoria at the San Paolo, however, there was the surprising news of the farewell. During the change, the usual standing ovation from the audience, answered with a hand to the heart, as if to say “you will always be here”.

It was the player who, despite the arrivals and departures of champions like Lavezzi, Cavani and Higuain, has always been there . Although of Slovak nationality, Hamsik has always felt Neapolitan.
He leaves Vesuvius as a champion who has marked Italian history: 520 appearances since 2007 , overtaken the historic captain Bruscolotti by 8 games, and above all 121 goals . The Slovak, in fact, is the best scorer of Napoli, six more than the great Maradona . Numbers that allowed him to write his name in huge letters in the history of the Neapolitan club .

ARRIVAL IN ITALY

Hamsik arrived in Italy thanks to Brescia who took him from Slovan Bratislava when he was only 17 years old. In the company of President Corioni he remained for 3 years before the offer of Luigi De Laurentis which promises him a long future in the shadow of Vesuvius, and so it was.
Bought for just over 5 million euros, he chooses jersey 17 (not a good number for the Neapolitans) the one that he, however, will then wear over 500 times. In his first season in Serie A he scored nine goals , from then on seeing him score consistently will become a habit.

His first goal was scored on August 15, 2007in the first round match of the Italian Cup at San Paolo against Cesena. A right platter to mock the Romagna goalkeeper. Marekiaro’s look was with a crest, but not as noticeable as in subsequent years.
From that goal he then shattered a series of records, overcoming myths like Careca and especially Maradona . At the end of the 2009-2010 season, with 12 goals in 37 games, and the team’s top scorer for the third consecutive year; the last player to do it for at least three seasons in a row was El Pibe de Oro.
Over the years he becomes and remains one of the main tenors of the blue attack, first paired with Lavezzi and Calaio, then the arrivals of Cavani, Callejon, Higuain and Mertens .
After the farewell of Paolo Cannavaro in 2014 he becomes permanently the captain and the leader of the locker room . Over the years he refuses many important offers, because Naples is his home. For some seasons, however, something has broken, he has had a bit of fluctuating years and a few days ago the economic offer arrived that was difficult to refuse.
The Neapolitan fans didn’t take it well, maybe they felt betrayed by Marekiaro too . The public loved him and that, despite everything, they will continue to love him.
