This Saturday, October 30, a month later than planned, Malaga will celebrate a Magna procession entitled Camino de la Gloria on the occasion of the centenary of the Association of Brotherhoods. A total of 16 thrones will represent the main passages of the passion, death and resurrection of Christ, from the entry into Jerusalem to the resurrection. As for the weather, the latest forecast offered by the State Meteorological Agency reduces the risk of rain to 20% for this Saturday in Malaga.
The brotherhoods that participate in this Magna procession are the Pollinica, the Holy Supper, the Ransom, the Blood, the Column, the Sentence, the Rico, the Hope, the Real Merged Brotherhoods, the Health, Mena, Dolores de San Juan, the Descent, the Sepulchre, the Expiration and the Resurrected.
History of the Association of Brotherhoods
The Association of Holy Week Brotherhoods of Malaga was established on January 21, 1921. The constitution of this entity established a novel fact; It was the first of its kind to be instituted in Spain. From the creation of this association, the phenomenology of Holy Week in Malaga must be understood as a collective event, as opposed to the individualism that had been the dominant trend until now. For the first time there was an agreement on the setting of schedules to be followed by each brotherhood and on the obligation to carry out a part of the itinerary common to all the processions, it is what was called the “official race” and which was made up of the main routes central of the city.
Schedules and itineraries
The brotherhoods will carry out an official tour , in the wide space between the Alameda, the Park and the Plaza de la Marina, where 24,000 chairs will be installed that can be purchased on the website of the centenary of the Association of Brotherhoods (centenariomalaga.com ). The first Brotherhood to enter the official tour will do so at 4:30 p.m. and the last at 9:30 p.m.
