If we think of the World Cup, we can only make direct connections to those that are the memories of each of us. A goal that made us jump for joy, a missed penalty that made us cry or a miraculous save that made us keep our hearts in our throats.
The World Cup is this, a coming and going of continuous emotions .
The emblem of football sentiment, however, is the goal. There are goals like that of Tardelli or that of Fabio Grosso, there are goals from Pele , Ronaldo , Maradonaand many many others. An innumerable series of markings that have followed one another since the beginning of the most followed football tournament in the world.
The last to cheer for a winning goal were the Germans who, thanks to Mario Goetze ‘s goal in the 113th minute of extra time, won the 2014 World Cup in Brazil .
Goetze’s goal was the last in chronological order to be scored in a final phase of the World Cup, but who was the first to score the first historic goal in a world championship
This “small” record is held by a Frenchman, Lucien Laurent , first scorer in the opening match of the 1930 World Cup: France – Mexico . The match was held at the stadiumPocitos in Montevideo on Sunday 13 July, in front of just over 500 spectators.
The transalpine midfielder at minute 19 of the first half bags the ball behind the innocent Mexican goalkeeper Oscar Bonfiglio , with a nice volley.
Laurent himself, on the other hand, has repeatedly reiterated that
the goal was nothing special!
In reality, beautiful or not, it was the goal that marked the history of world football and the old Rimet Cup .
Lucien Laurient was born on 10 December 1907 in Val de Marne. After a few years in which I played in the ranks of the semi-professionals of Cercle Athletique de Paris, he decided to move to Sochaux, football expression of Peugeot, for which he worked and obtained a specific permit . Obviously in those days, no one was a professional footballer.

The trip to Uruguay was carried out with the ship “ Conte Verde ” with the Romanian, French and Yugoslav national teams on board, three European referees and the FIFA president Jules Rimet who was carrying the Cup . It left on 21 June from Genoa and then arrived in Uruguay on 4 July.
We spent 15 days in the Green Count to reach South America. We did the basic exercises below and trained on the deck of the ship. Our coach never talks to us about tactics. There was also a swimming pool, it was like a resort. We did not fully understand the magnitude of why we were going to Uruguay. Only years and years later did we realize our place in history. At that moment it was just adventure. We were young people who were having fun. (L. Laurent)
Before the kick-off the two national teams entered the field with their own flags.
After less than 20 minutes the first goal of the World Cup. The match ended with a clear 4-1 for the French who also achieved a historic first brace with Maschinot.Although Laurent’s record will forever be in the annals of football.
