El 44, the famous San Fernando churreria, which launched a new churros delivery service on weekends in 2010, is now transferring its formula to the city of Cadiz, where it will open this month of October , a new establishment.
It will be on Juan Carlos I Avenue, on the corner of Portugal Avenue, in the premises that El Nuevo Stop occupied until recently. In this space, according to the manager of this chain of churrerias, Israel Exposito , they will offer breakfast and snacks, with their famous churros and on weekends they will also serve these churros, with chocolate even if desired, at home for the entire city of Cadiz and during breakfast hours.
The Cadiz business, which will have a terrace with 40 tables, will offer churros for breakfast and snack every day. They will be presented just as they are in the famous San Fernando churreria in Plaza del Rey, an establishment that is over a hundred years old, on absorbent paper and freshly made.
News: Stuffed churros
But there will also be news in the new bar, which will be called El 44 like the other establishments they have on the island. This is how they will premiere some stuffed churros that they are working on and that are made by themselves. “We don’t know if we will introduce them from the first day or we will do it a little later. We haven’t decided yet.”
These are churros that are filled with white chocolate, dark chocolate, pastry cream or dulce de leche. Israel notes that these churros can be eaten both hot and cold.
The latest news will be that on weekends they will also have fried fish in the style of the fry shops. It will be sold by weight, although, in principle, only in the same place. The menu will be complemented with dressings and some cold meat tapas.
The cafe bar El 44 de San Fernando, famous for its churros, was opened, according to the Exposito family, more than 100 years ago. In 1995, Miguel Angel Exposito Carvajal took over the management, who had been working in the churreria attached to the bar since the mid-20th century and is now included in the family business.
The trail has been followed by his son Israel, who in 2010 gave an important turn to the business by launching a pioneering churros home delivery service. This formula has allowed them to grow and since then they have set up two more churrerias in San Fernando, one in the Gallineras area and the other on Calle Real itself, opposite the Castillo de San Romualdo. Now they join the fourth business in Cadiz and Israel points out “that we hope it will not be the last”.
