“From the first moment, we wanted art to offer us new perspectives. And we wanted to do it on the basic utensils that we use to eat: a plate or a cup. Tableware objects that offer us a new perspective with the five senses, all the that we use to eat. And, through an artistic language, to raise awareness about something as serious as the fact that there are many people who still suffer from hunger in the world”, Laura Fontanet highlights. “In addition, we think that this tableware can be a gift for this Christmas , which goes a little beyond the stereotype that a donation means, in the NGO environment.”

The problem of hunger increases
The health crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic has led to an unprecedented economic crisis throughout the world. Although hunger is not an infectious virus that spreads by contagion, it is a disease that advances, spreads and already affects an eighth of the planet. In 2020, 811 million people in the world suffered from hunger, 118 million more than in 2019. In the case of Spain, it is estimated that there are around 11 million people at risk of poverty , that is, a quarter of the population.
“We believe that it is very important to work on different solidarity projects that cover different sectors,” said Laura Fontanet, Director of Marketing and Communication at Action Against Hunger. “We are infinitely grateful to the 24 artists who have collaborated on this inspiring project to create a truly unique tableware, which we hope will accompany many special moments, and at the same time, give us back hope and encourage us to fight for a world without hunger “.
