Maurizio Basile is a former manager of public and private companies, recently appointed by Cdp’s CEO, Dario Scannapieco , as senior advisor. In the past general manager of Ferrovie dello Stato, Basile was also at the top of Anas, of the Rome airports from 2006 to 2008 and of Atac.
He recently joined the executive board of the Political School “Living in the Community”, the prestigious free training project commissioned by Pellegrino Capaldo , Marcello Presicci and Paolo Boccardelliwhich aims to offer an opportunity for growth to young people under 40 who aspire to cover senior positions in the public and private sectors. The Political School, the first totally non-partisan in Italy, is made up of a very high level teaching staff (here all the teachers) including university professors, CEOs, company presidents, public administration executives, managers and professional experts. I experience my new commitment with the “Living in the Community” Political School as the concrete recognition of a professional and human path that began many years ago in the world of public enterprise, where I had the opportunity to develop a deep respect for institutions serving the national economy. And it is in this context that I had the opportunity to collaborate with prof. Capaldo, who over time became my constant professional and human reference. I am really very happy and proud of this appointment and I am ready to offer my contribution in favor of our young people.

The issue of the formation of a ruling class suited to the problems that the global economy presents is obviously central to any country. In ours then, perhaps, the disappearance of economic-cultural centers of national importance (I am thinking of the IRI where in the seventies I had the opportunity to start my career path) has determined a progressive loss of economic-institutional culture, without another preparatory to allowing to cover typical roles of the ruling class over time. For this reason, the initiative of the Political School “Living in the Community” is fundamental and precious, since it fills the void of an authoritative and non-partisan assembly, at the service of institutions and citizens.
You have a long experience as a senior executive and manager in public and private companies. What our country, the public administration and the industry sector needs to develop a sustainable economy and put the dialogue between public and private at the center
The theme of the formation of a ruling class must be central as a cultural and technical prerequisite to face the challenge of a sustainable economy, that is, which reconciles growth with respect for universally recognized rights and with the issues of environmental sustainability which, beyond the issue of slogans actually represents a challenge to be faced with non-ideological competence. As for the relationship between public and private, the prerequisite for success is precisely the existence of a ruling class capable of a constructive and ethically correct dialectic. The task of the Political School “Living in the Community” is also to build a bridge between public and private, cultivating interdisciplinary skills, difficult to find elsewhere.
