Winter is upon us and with it the first colds that force us to take refuge in the house and turn on the heating. For most of us, this proves to be a sore point, especially in economic terms. Let’s find out together if reducing the cost of heating is a chimera or an achievable wish!
In this article we will try to understand together:

  • what is a condensing boiler
  • how a condensing boiler works
  • what is the difference between a condensing boiler and a traditional gas heating system
  • when innovation is synonymous with convenience
  • how to optimize economic savings thanks to tax incentives

CONDENSATION BOILER VS TRADITIONAL GAS BOILER
The high heating costs are often attributable to the type of boiler in our home. It may seem trivial to you, but an old, obsolete boiler consumes much more than a modern one, especially if the latter is a condensing boiler. The significant difference is linked to the different functioning of the two devices.
In traditional gas models there is a dispersion of heat together with the exhaust fumes, which are expelled at a temperature ranging from 140 ° to 160 °. As you can already deduce from its name, the condensing boiler activates a condensation process, which allows the heat to be reused to heat the water in the radiators. In this way its dispersion is avoided and the exhaust fumes are removed at a temperature of 40 °, significantly lower than the traditional boiler.
In addition to energy savings, which we can quantify as 35%, this aspect affects the environment. This means a considerable reduction in carbon dioxide emissions. Therefore, if you will soon have to rely on an outdated heating system again, you should consider replacing it with a condensing boiler. In this case, we will see together the costs and above all the incentives to which you are entitled. CONDENSING BOILER PRICE
The cost of a condensing boiler is an important aspect to consider if you decide to replace your old gas boiler with this new type. As you can easily see by consulting Desivero, one of the reference sites in the plumbing and heating sector, condensing boilers have a price ranging from 650 euros up to even more than 3000 euros, for the best condensing boilers. These are divided into wall and base boilers.
Keep in mind that, in general, buying on a digital platform allows for significant savings. The only care is to turn to portals able to guarantee security in the management of personal data during navigation and payment, reliability and assistance before, during and after the transaction. In this way you will really have the certainty of combining savings, quality of service and the chosen equipment.
The economic aspect is fundamental when you are considering modernizing your heating system. Some elements to support your decision primarily concern its use. In fact, try to reflect on the size of your living space and the time you spend there.
For example, if your house is small and your stay in it is limited to a few hours during the day, the condensing boiler can be a costly solution. Conversely, if you have a large house and your gas bills are very high, installing a condensing boiler becomes a priority.
Beyond these considerations, for the savings to be effective, you must always pay close attention to heat loss in the house. These derive mainly from the windows and walls. For this reason it is essential to install double glazing and insulate the external walls, even before connecting a condensing boiler. FISCAL INCENTIVES CONDENSING BOILER
As we have seen in the previous paragraphs, the modernization of the gas heating system is a convenient and eco-sustainable solution. This choice is strongly encouraged by a series of measures envisaged by the 2017 Budget Law. By continuing to read, you will find out if these will also be adopted in the coming year.
You have decided to replace your old gas boiler with a condensing one
Until 31 December 2017, you can take advantage of the 65% Ecobonus on interventions to improve the energy efficiency of individual real estate units. This tax deduction affects single homes, villas, apartments, second homes, workplaces, in short, all buildings, provided they already exist. The Ecobonus is therefore not applicable to new buildings. Inside, various works are contemplated, including the total or partial replacement of heating systems with condensing boilers. This means that you are entitled to a 65% personal income tax refund on the total amount paid for the purchase of the new heating system. The recovery of this figure takes place through 10 annual installments, which allow you to amortize your investment significantly.
To obtain the reimbursement linked to the installation of the new condensing boiler, your payment must be made in a traceable manner, for example by bank transfer. Once you have purchased the boiler, you will need to keep a series of documents, and then transmit them electronically to ENEA (the Body for New Technologies, Energy and the Environment) within 90 days of the completion of the works. In particular, the documentation consists of:
• the certification of certification (certificate of the correct performance of the intervention)
• all the receipts of the expenses related to the work and the payment transfer
• the APE -> (Energy Performance Certification) reports the new features on the energy efficiency of a building, home or apartment.
At this point it is imperative to ask whether these tax incentives will also be in force for 2018. For the moment, the answer is still uncertain. The draft for the 2018 Budget Maneuver indeed contains an extension of the tax deductions for the energy efficiency of buildings to the whole of 2018. However, the Ecobonus is reduced, from 65% to 50%.
Pending further developments, given the mobilization of Assotermica, the association of manufacturers of appliances and components for thermal appliances within Anima / Confindustria, we might as well take advantage of the 65% Ecobonus in force until 31 December 2017!
