Having an interior patio at home is having the possibility of creating a unique and personal space, where you can relax when you arrive after a hard day’s work. If you are lucky and have a space like this, you may be interested in knowing how to get the most out of it, where? Here, in this space that we dedicate to How to decorate an interior patio: ideas and advice.
Inner Orchard
No matter the space, not even if it is an interior patio , there will always be a plant that can adapt to space and light.
A corner full of charm thanks to this small room made up of light furniture , without bulky structures, but in wrought iron, which withstands the outside temperature very well. An appropriate arrangement, such as the armchair facing the entrance, flanked by a couple of armchairs.
The bulky and fluffy cushions that will give the point of comfort stand out. When winter arrives, the central round table is really an open barbecue , we will only have to fill it with coal and we will have a warm outdoor lounge.
The outdoor porcelain floor in a cream colour, to achieve greater light, contrasts with the imitation stone stoneware walls, so as not to lose that rustic charm that we like so much.
Plants strategically placed in the corners, green and huge plants, which provide verticality to the space. In short, a summer and winter space that perfectly meets what we are looking for, rest, surrounded by nature.
Stone and concrete
A small outdoor space . In this case it is an interior patio that can be accessed from different rooms. An ideal place to spend the terrible hot afternoon. The back wall painted in a concrete color, to serve as a canvas in the composition.
A shower will give functionality to this space and what better on that huge gray wall. Surely you wonder why in gray, because the answer is in front of us, the trees that frame the relaxation space, will stand out more and better if behind, we have a gray canvas.
The freshness of the trees is accompanied by a small ditch with water , dressed in stone. The stone also has its function since with the humidity, the moss will begin to take over the stone, providing that characteristic green color, which will visually soften the space .
A floor in washed china and a walk in stone, black slate for a more comfortable access to the central area. The relaxation area located in the center of the space is very light, so as not to burden the space and provide a very pleasant and bright environment.
Stone and wood
Another nice idea for an interior patio . On this occasion, the patio is protected by a large awning that will provide the shade we need.
The combination of the wood on the floor, which can also be replaced by imitation wood outdoor stoneware, is in perfect harmony with the stone that covers part of the right wall. In this case, plants that require little care and little light, bamboo or boxwood plants , have been chosen .
Bamboo will provide verticality to the space while boxwood, much thicker, will provide leafiness . In this case, all the plants have been placed in pots of different shapes.
Pruning these bushes into a ball shape adds originality. We also highlight the mirror suspended in the center of the rear wall, surrounded by ivy, which will double the leafiness of the space.
In the background, the relaxation area , in which two huge hanging chairs will provide us with the ideal space to read a book or relax. A good idea that they are pendants, so you get depth and continuity in space . To finish, some privet trees and ivy that runs along the entire wall, to create a very fresh atmosphere.
Pure Minimalism
Until now we have seen lavishly decorated interior patios , now it is the turn of more minimalist spaces and therefore, spaces that will require less maintenance.
In this case, the space is large and the way it has been distributed leaves a feeling of cleanliness and order . Starting with the back wall , it has been covered with exterior wood slats in different shades, placed horizontally to produce an effect of spaciousness.
In this case, the space has been left empty, although a nice low table with a couple of large cushioned armchairs would look great.
A warm light has been placed in the upper part, which illuminates from top to bottom, this has been done to highlight the wall when night falls, generating a very pleasant effect.
The line of wood has been followed by the side walls , this time covering only the upper third, while the rest has been left blank, providing a brighter and cleaner space.
The lower part of the walls has been allocated to a green and leafy space. A continuous planter made of work will provide us with freshness and a note of color to the space. As in all gardens, verticality is needed and this is achieved with the trees, strategically placed, only in the middle of both planters.
Taking advantage of the side of the planter, a giant bench has been built , which has been covered with wood, following the theme of the walls.
The central part has been covered with grass, and it must be real grass since the barbecue or fireplace has been placed right on top. A carpet of grass could be dangerous if embers fell.
If we place warm lights in the planters , focusing on the wall, the effect at night would give us much more warmth, especially in the case of such a large and minimalist space .
Small and Functional
For this inner courtyard, the focus is on the large vertical stone wall . From here, a small and functional room has been set up, without taking away its prominence.
Because the space is not too big, an attempt has been made to visually lighten it without having to do without anything.
The plants have all been placed on the wall to highlight, they are green plants, which accentuate the color of the stone . As we can see, it is not about putting leafy plants but it is about applying the theory of verticality that we have been highlighting in all the images.
In this case, plants with large and striking leaves have been used, but which do not occupy much space volumetrically. These will alternate with others of lower height. The contrast of the flowerpot with the green of the plants has been a success, being also the predominant color of the whole set.
Only the relaxation space remains and for this, a black iron and wood garden armchair has been chosen , a combination that in addition to decorating, produces a clean effect, largely thanks to the pure lines of the set.
The low table follows the same color theme, taking advantage of gray glass as the dominant color. To balance the space, an individual armchair has been placed.
