To give a touch of color and style to the garden it is not necessary to spend a fortune or always rely on professionals in the sector.
In these days of celebration, taking advantage of the beautiful days, I decided to give a system to my garden by creating a flower bed by recycling the materials I already had at home.
In my case, I used gods to create the border of the flower bedlarge stone blocks that were part of my house and that had been lying in the garden for several years due to their weight.
However, not everyone has the material that I recycled at their disposal, but luckily you can easily get what you need by getting some large stones that you will use to create the border of your flower bed: if you don’t already have any at home, you can make yourself available to collect them for free by posting an announcement on the various markets on the net. Surely there will be someone in your area who can’t wait to get rid of it!
To create your own flowerbed at 0 cost you will therefore have to get some stonesto make the border, some soil (perfect home compost), plants and decorative bark (a large bag costs about 6/8 €).
At this point, after choosing the area of ​​the garden you want to decorate, start placing the stones to create the border that will delimit your DIY flowerbed (see example photo below).
After placing the stones in shape and sizeyou want, you will have to move the earth inside and eliminate the weeds present. Finally add the fertilizer or soil and start placing the plants you have chosen to insert inside. Sprinkle the bark only at the end of the work: in addition to being decorative ground away the weeds and, over time, it will turn into an excellent “nutrient” for the plants you have chosen. It is not necessary to immediately buy many plants for your flower bed: for example, I used some branches of succulent plants that I already had at home and some plants that I had in pots a little suffering. You can add other plants later, perhaps by having a friend give you a sprig of the plants you like best.
If, on the other hand, you want to fill your flowerbed immediately, go to the greenhouse closest to you: you will have a wide choice of plants and you can take advantage of the advice of an expert to choose the combinations .
A few small tips: if you choose for your flowerbed in a partially shaded area, you can add impressive plants such as calla lilies or gerberas . These plants give a touch of color but need shaded areas as they love humidity while they fear the direct sun. The calla, if it finds the right environment, will increase its volume every year to give you a fantastic colorful flowerbed.
Alternatively, you can also buy flower bulbs which, nowadays, you can also find in all supermarkets at very advantageous prices.
