Starting to think about the furnishing of your balconies, the first thing to do is to imagine the final result or, at least, the main style details that cannot be missed.
First of all, you want your comfort corner to be elegant and refined You
prefer a more rustic or ethnic solution
More nature or more artificial elements
Given that in most cases these are rather small spaces, it is first of all necessarymake the most of every surface , not only that of the floor but also the walls and any railing – even if your balcony is completely made of stone, you will still have the windowsill available.
The open air is perfect for inserting plants and flowers, so you may even decide to integrate, if space permits, a small vertical vegetable garden along the wall.
A support point is essential, especially if you do not have a window sill wide enough to be able to place something on it without the risk of it falling down. In this sense, there is no need for big things, a small coffee table in wood, wrought iron or other material will suffice, depending on the style you want to follow. Alternatively, even onestool can perform this task and, if necessary, return to be used as a seat.
Having the possibility to sit down is an equally important aspect and, in this sense, for example, a pretty rocking chair can be inserted in a corner or a single wrought iron chair.
A trend that has been established for years and now seems timeless is the use and creative recycling of pallets , used for the construction not only of chairs and tables, but also as a support surface and containers of various types.
Finally, a detail that cannot and must absolutely not be missing is a lighting solution. On summer evenings, when your balcony will be the perfect oasis of peace to relax, you certainly don’t want to find yourself unable to read a good book because you are in the dark
!
Here then, even from this point of view, the alternatives are many and can contribute a lot to complete the choice of a specific style of furniture.
So far we have remained on the essential. Let’s proceed with more targeted indications, thanks to a couple of examples to furnish the balcony and enhance it in the best way, according to different tastes but with a common denominator: pallets. Examples of balcony furniture: Nordic and pallet style
For those unfamiliar with this style, also called Scandinavian, its name is linked to the tastes of Northern European countries and is characterized by sobriety and elegance. Typical features are the essentiality and the dominance of light colors , among which white stands out above all.
These choices represent a direct consequence of the conditions of those places where the sun does not rise for six months, which is why it is essential to illuminate the rooms in an alternative way.
Furnishing small, narrow and long balconies in punctuated style and therefore a wise choice, especially for those areas not directly exposed to the sun or which in any case receive little light. Material par excellence of the Nordic style and thewood , so on the balcony you cannot miss a table with chairs in this material and white cushions and / or a shelf with various shelves on which to place books or other objects, rather than pots of plants or flowers. A white painted lantern in the center of the table is the perfect element to complete the picture and softly illuminate your corner of Nordic paradise.
Here is an example: a small sofa and a support surface on two levels made of white painted pallets. A divider of the same color, alternating cushions with a dark contrasting color and a rich dose of natural elements: wooden logs, decorative plants and flowers. Of course, delicate lighting could not be missing, achieved thanks to small candles that frame the perfect Scandinavian painting. Examples of furniture for balconies: rustic style
For those who love a furniture that is always elegant but more inspired by the naturalness of the materials, it is possible to cover the balcony floor in a simple, practical and economical way with wooden slabs (typically laminate) or, alternatively , with squares of the same material.
If possible, also cover the walls with a wooden plate, then rely on the inevitable pallets for the creation of a seat, even better if in coffered, on which to lay large welcoming cushions .
At this point, you can indulge yourself in integrating vases and jars of different sizes and materials to your balcony, within which to grow aromatic plants and flowers .
We’re forgetting something
. Of course not. As a tribute to the rustic style, to illuminate and help furnish the balcony, glass bottles can become perfect candle holders. In this sense, you should naturally choose long and thin candles. If they should be wider than the bottles, just heat the base and let the wax melt a little, then insert them gently, for the necessary length, inside the bottle. Finally, to emphasize the ‘rural’ aspect of your balcony, you could arrange a wooden staircase in a corner on the wall , on which you can possibly hang other jars.
As always when it comes to furniture, tastes are really many and different.
Here we wanted to give you some ideas in relation to two types of style for furnishing the balcony, referring to city spaces in which it is essential to carve out a somewhat romantic areaand that is able to convey a feeling of total relaxation .
However, there are many other original and fanciful elements which, depending on the availability of space, can furnish small, narrow and long balconies but also large and wide terraces.
Some examples: the insertion of a hammock, a fun and dynamic touch; colored tables and chairs in different materials for a more modern and design style; shelves and seats in transparent plastic, for a feeling of greater space; wall, floor or street lamps to illuminate; finally, accessory and decorative elements such as watering cans, tin and glass containers, vertical gardens and birdhouses.
