Juan y Medio’s partner in La Tarde Aqui y Ahora, on Canal Sur TV , has managed to carve out a name for herself over the last 12 years. Eva Ruiz, model and Spanish dance teacher, has always been passionate about Communication. He landed on the regional channel from Malaga television, his hometown, and, although on the first day Juan y Medio had to give him a break due to his nervousness, in this time he has managed to overcome his fears and replaced Toni Moreno in Un year of your life Canal Sur rewarded his effort and dedication with his own program, Esta es tu noche , which has just premiered its second season after the success of the first.
–What has been the key for Canal Sur to renew ‘Esta es tu noche’
–It is a program with which anyone feels identified, because it is starred by anonymous people. Although they have had to face numerous adversities, they have always tried to improve their circumstances with a smile. They are people from whom we must take an example, and value them.
–They compete on Monday nights with hits like ‘Mujer’ (Antena 3) and now ‘Elprice just’ (Telecinco). How do you face this challenge
–This program has seriously proposed to fulfill the dreams of Andalusians. It is difficult because, being a public channel, we do not have the budgets of the private ones. But that a publication bets on this type of format is commendable. Our weapons are the proximity to Andalusians and empathy.
-In this program, in which emotions are the center of everything, how do you deal with the issue of safety distance and other restrictions due to the pandemic
-Me, personally, with great sorrow. I am a very skin-deep person, I empathize with people, I give them my love… and now if someone tells me their story and cries, I cannot physically hug them or show them my support, so… well… .now everything comes out of our eyes. That’s where I show what I can’t with touch, with the body.
“I am a person with very skin and I am very sorry not to be able to hug or show my support to the guests”
–Working with Juan y Medio, who is all humor and closeness, and in a program with older people, has given him ‘ tabla’, right
Yes, in this program they tell me tremendous stories, Andalusians come with beautiful dreams that we fulfill… The key is emotion, that’s the common denominator. I love these programs because it comes naturally to me to empathize with people, and these types of spaces allow me to be very ‘me’. As a presenter, in this format, I cannot limit myself to reading a script, a very beautiful story emerges from each person.
–How are you doing double, with ‘The afternoon here and now’ and ‘This is your night’, two programs on the grid
–Like a motorcycle (laughs). There are days that I don’t stop, it’s true, but doing television is a gift and when they stop calling me, I’ll stop. My two children are grown up now, so now Canal Sur is my home and my life revolves around my profession. In this chain I feel very loved and I am very aware of how lucky I am to be where I am, so I cannot, nor do I want to, complain. I get along very well because I enjoy my work.
