STARTED the countdown to the Colombinas fair. From now on everything has to become a showcase of opinions, acts and characters around this fair that is fulfilling everything planned, with a box office that is working well for the purchase of season tickets. Everything in order to face a fair in which Jose Tomas obviously puts a pull, but to which as Huelva they add charm for the fans of this land.
Yesterday morning the poster of novilleros who have to act in said practical class that stars in the second day of the Colombinas fair was presented in public.
Present at the event were Carlos Pereda, one of the businessmen of the Mercedarian bullring, and two directors of Sevillian bullfighting schools, Curro Camacho and Luis de Pauloba, who joined in praising the Huelva company for programming this golden opportunity for eights young bullfighters in a top category fair. “We applaud the example that Huelva gives. Any bullfighter would pay to be advertised at a fair like Colombinas the year, moreover, that Jose Tomas comes. Here, not only is the kid respected to the fullest, but room is even given to eight of them, in one more gesture that here the words of so many become true facts”.
The poster of the celebration is made up of the bullfighters Calerito, Juan Carlos Berrocal, Dario Canas, Jesus Cuesta, Ismael Jimenez, Peti Chico, Rodrigo Molina and Sergio Goncalves, who will be measured against the erals of the Portuguese cattle ranch of Jose Luis Cochicho.
Carlos Pereda, as a businessman from the Plaza de Toros La Merced, underlined the new bet that this practical class supposes for the future of Bullfighting. “And we do it from Huelva, unfortunately, the only Andalusian province that does not have a bullfighting school. Even so, far from resigning ourselves, we have been giving the promotion of new bullfighters the place they deserve for several seasons now with practical classes and recovery in our season of heifer bullfights with picadores. This has allowed us, for example, to already have a new bullfighter from Huelva on the doorstep, like David de Miranda, with up to two bullfighters with horses -Alejandro Conquero and Emilio Silvera- or, for example, the so-called emerging bullfighter who has revolutionized the season today, Roca Rey, will be proclaimed the winner as a novillero without and with horses, respectively.
That day is also thought to be dedicated to collaborating with the salvation campaign of the Real Club Recreativo de Huelva. It will be carried out through ballot boxes that will be installed in each of the doors that give access to the Huelva bullring so that each assistant to the bullfight can deposit their economic contribution at will.
Juan Carleos, as director of the Federation of Recreational Penalties, has referred to “the new example of sensitivity that the world of the bull gives to its surroundings. It is the second time in its history and in just thirty years that the Dean needs the help of the entire Huelva society and here is the bullfighting hobby of Huelva taking a step forward. This honors you and qualifies you as great people”.
On the other hand, and in line with how we began this article, we must mention that today the Colombinas are present in Extremadura. They will do it in one of the halls of the Hotel Rio de Badajoz and as Carlos Pereda acknowledges, “it is a wink that we have been making for years to the Extremaduran fans, who are so faithful to the lines of La Merced”.
The act, which will begin at 1:00 p.m., is expected to include the presence of the bullfighter Miguel Angel Perera, the rancher Jose Luis Iniesta (owner of the Los Espartales ranch, who will fight his cattle in Huelva in the bullfight on the 7th of August) and Huelva rejoneador Andres Romero.
