It is Christmas night: there is the decorated tree, warm lights, candles, and the inevitable gifts. Among the packages there is one in particular that attracts attention, because from this comes a beautiful puppy with a nice red bow around the neck.
It is a frequent scene in films as in real life: the little puppy is welcomed with enthusiasm by the whole family, with excited children amidst screams, big smiles and tears of emotion. But not everything always goes in the right direction and what was supposed to be a surprise can turn into a negative experience.
There are many reasons why dogs don’t have to be a Christmas present. And we explain why.

Dogs are not a package to take back
After the first enthusiasm it is easy to regret having taken a puppy for Christmas: maybe the little one cried all night, peed and pooped around the house and you have to deal with something that was not in your schedules.
After the first few weeks – especially if you are not an expert – the puppy begins to steal slippers, gnaw on furniture and among the owners a question emerges more and more frequently in conversations: “Who made us do it
”.
For many – more than you might imagine – the answer is simple (but chilling): ” The dog has to go “. And this is one of the reasons why dogs should never be a Christmas present. Dogs are living beings
Dogs are living beings, they represent a commitment for (their) life, they are very demanding and their maintenance has a cost: they certainly cannot be considered as any other Christmas gift.
Dogs have their own character and personality, they have feelings, emotions and moods. Their relationship with humans is comparable to that between parents and children , so much so that it can be said that dogs are like children (although obviously they are not to be considered as such for many reasons) and have important emotional, physical and mental needs. Objects do not. Dogs are for their whole life
As already mentioned, dogs are a lifelong commitment and cannot be considered as just any gift. And it’s not always easy, because you have to deal with the fact that our four-legged friends don’t live forever.
Animals have a shorter life expectancy than ours and often the owners can find themselves in the space of a few years to live wonderful experiences, such as preparing the little one for life, but also emotionally strong.
Just think of diseases (such as dementiasenile, when a dog becomes old) and above all the death of the creature, which causes enormous pain, often greater than that resulting from the death of a human relative. Having a dog is very, very demanding, both in everyday life and emotionally. Dogs are a responsibility Taking a dog must be the result of a cold and rational choice , and a decision that must be thought out to the last detail because the arrival of a dog brings with it great responsibilities.
The experience of living with a dog is simply extraordinary, in all its joints: our four-legged friends are capable of upsetting our life and improving it, but precisely because it is a bond that will last for years and well a decision. so important not to be born under the Christmas tree.
