The rooms in your house seem dark and sad
. Put more yellow on them. You always feel tired and fatigued
Throw yourself on orange or red and almost by magic you will feel regenerated . You have a hard time getting up in the morning
Brighten up the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen where you have breakfast with warm and bright colors: red, yellow, orange and be sure that everything will change. If, on the other hand, you are always stressed and angry or suffer from anxiety crises, remove everything that is red and paint your favorite rooms green or blue.
Of course, the easiest choice when painting the house is to paint it white: a reassuring non-color, as it naturally binds to any type of furniture and makes the rooms larger and brighter . In short, the white on the walls and in the furnishings gives and anyone who is afraid of making a mistake can rest assured: it is no coincidence that real estate agencies have the houses for sale painted white and present them to aspiring buyers by day and with the shutters wide open. to make as much light as possible reflect on the light walls.
However, the classic white may not be the ideal shade for our home or for those who live there: studies on the psychology of colorhave shown that each different color induces particular psychophysical reactions and therefore has a direct influence on our state of mind and mood . So, once you grapple with the dilemma of the color to choose to renovate the house you will have to deal with both the physical characteristics of the spaces (size of the rooms, orientation), and the personality of its inhabitants.
Here are some rules to keep in mind:

  • the color contrasts on the walls should preferably be used for large spaces. For small spaces not naturally lit (for example, an entrance) it is better to use dark and warm colors: the other spaces will seem larger
  • strong colors appear lighter as the surface is more extended: do not be fooled by the palette of paint factories and experiment
  • cold colors (green and blue) appear icy if the sunlight comes from the north, more pleasant if the room is facing south
  • a room facing east will be lit in the morning and in the shade in the afternoon, in the west there will be shade in the morning and strong warm light in the afternoon
  • red stimulates lively reactions , if you use it in the bedroom you will improve the passion with your partner but you will not sleep soundly. Great for the entrance area
  • yellow and orange stimulate and recharge but do not have the exciting effect of red . They represent the warm light of the day and stimulate the waking state. Suitable for the living room or for the study
  • Blue , in the lighter shades, evokes water and relaxation and is preferably used for the bathroom. It is to be avoided in the living area and everywhere if you tend to melancholy and depression
  • green sends neutral stimuli and induces feelings of relaxation, order and balance, as long as it is of a strong tone. Avoid in the bathroom, near the mirror as it accentuates the paleness of the skin and dark circles.
