Versatile, easy to use and above all greedy: natural cocoa butter is one of the most precious gifts of mother nature. It is not only the essential ingredient for the success of a tasty chocolate, but it is also the main ingredient for the preparation of natural cosmetics. Here are three things you can do with the tastiest butter there is. What is cocoa butter
It is a natural fat present in cocoa beans, which have an average of 50% of it. It is used both in confectionery and in the preparation of natural and non-natural cosmetics. On the market there are two versions: raw and dark for its cocoa content; more refined and yellowish in color. The first is decidedly more greedy and retains the flavor of cocoa even more, however its texture is slightly less soft.Lip balm
It is the most common use. It is no coincidence that what is on sale is called cocoa butter. Despite the name, however, most products do not even contain minute amounts of the fat extracted from the cocoa tree. Preparing a lip cream on the other hand is very easy: you just have to equip yourself with a small container for lipsticks or, in fact, cocoa butter – it can be found on the market for less than a euro. The properties of cocoa butter
Cocoa butter is a precious stimulant of collagen synthesis, but also an excellent protective and antioxidant thanks to the presence of polyphenols (catechin, epicatechin, quercetin derivatives) and vitamin E. It also contains highly nutritious fatty acids such as linoleic acid, oleic and stearic. It also contains natural squalene, a substance naturally present in our sebum which is considered one of the best skin moisturizers. How to prepare a lip cream
The cocoa butter to work can be purchased in herbal medicine or in the many Internet sites where products for do-it-yourself cosmetics are sold. Choose the one with or without cocoa residues and put a small amount in a saucepan in a double boiler with the addition of half a teaspoon of almond, coconut or sesame oil. In a few minutes the butter will be completely melted: pour it into the chosen container and wait a few hours for it to solidify. Et voila! The lip cream is ready. Its nourishing and moisturizing power is excellent and you will hardly return to commercial products. The price of cocoa butter
Cocoa butter can be found on the market at different prices depending on whether it is an organic or a refined product. On average, its price is around 15 euros for packs of half a kilogram. But with this quantity you can produce creams and cocoa butter for a year. Nourishing face cream
It is also possible to prepare a nourishing face cream which, in addition, will reduce the risk of wrinkles. The result is an inexpensive and truly surprising product in terms of effectiveness. Also in this case, for its preparation, it is necessary to melt the product in a bain-marie by adding in equal parts the shea butter and a little extra virgin olive oil depending on how soft the cream is to be obtained. The more you add, the easier it will be to spread. For a more pronounced anti-wrinkle effect, extra virgin olive oil can be replaced with hazelnut oil. Before using it, pour the liquid into a small glass container, mix well for some time, then wait for total cooling (approximately three hours). Lightening scrub for oily skin
For a peeling effect on oily skin, you can melt a small amount of cocoa butter in a double boiler, add a little cream, orange honey and chickpea flour to obtain a soft paste. He rubs his face with the product obtained for a few minutes. At the end, the residues are eliminated with warm water. The skin will be as good as new.
