1 – Porto Canale Leonardesco

Some parts that make up the port were built based on some drawings by the genius of Leonardo da Vinci, from which it takes its name, invited by Cesare Borgia to participate in the renovation works, in 1502.
Among the most important sites in Cesenatico near the channel there is the well-known Piazza delle Conserve, paved with pebbles and full of stalls with typical food products of the place, as well as Piazza Pisacane , in which stands the imposing statue dedicated to Giuseppe Garibaldi, dating back to 1884.

2 – Museo della Marineria
Photo of Uomodelfaro. It is a very special museum, in fact one section is on the mainland, while another is completely floating . On display there are several boats and artifacts that tell the nautical history of the place. Visitors can also get on board a merchant ship from the 1930s, moored together with the other vintage ships in the most internal and ancient part of the Leonardesco Canal Port.
Some rooms and areas of the museum can also be booked for organizing conventions, presentations and civil weddings.

3 – Spazio Pantani
Photo by Framor1981. The Pantani family together with the Municipality of Cesenatico and the Pantani Foundation decided to create this space, 300 square meters large, in memory of the well-known cyclist champion Marco Pantani , born in Cesena and died in 2004 in Rimini.
The Space was born in 2006 and inside it the story and the enterprises of Pantani are told, through various photographs, audiovisual products and various memorabilia, such as his first bicycle, all the trophies he won and the many paintings dedicated to him.
It is also possible to buy gadgets and various products inside the museum, the proceeds of which are donated entirely to charities.

4 – Parish Church of St. James
Photo by User_talk: Yoggysot. Overlooking the Leonardesco Canal Port, near the Maritime Museum, stands the church, built in 1324 but renovated in 1763. Rectangular in shape, the building inside has a single nave , embellished with round arches, statues of saints , operas and a large organ.
The peculiarity of the place lies in the famous painting it houses, the San Giuseppe, by the painter Guido Cagnacci, which although it is a copy, its origin, relative to the 1600s, has been ascertained.

5 – Parco di Levante
Not far from the beach there is a green space where you can carry out various activities and where you can relax surrounded by nature: this is the public park.

Paths to be covered by bike or on foot, paths with facilities for physical exercise, expanses of lawn for picnics or sunbathing, two lakes with ducks, ducks, geese and turtles and walks to be done under pines, poplars and oaks: the park and just the ideal place for recreation and relaxation in nature .

6 – Spiaggia delle Tamerici
This is the first Italian beach to be vegetal, therefore sustainable and respectful of the environment . The most particular aspect of the beach lies in the Tamerici , the hedge and tree plants that surround this portion of golden sand.
The bathing facility was built by re-naturalizing a beach and opened to the public in May 2012, in the Valverde district. Access to the beach and to all the services present, such as the umbrellas created by the tree tamarisk trees, bathrooms, showers, bicycle storage (entirely made from recycled materials) is free.

7 – Zona Cesarini
It is a large portion of free beach , where bathers can find a series of efficient services , such as showers, a small kiosk with snacks, sandwiches and ice cream, toilets and about twenty tents made by some artists to shadow.
For those who want to devote themselves to sports on the beach there are two beach volleyball courts, and those who have children with them can take them to the play area dedicated to them.
In the Cesarini area there is also an area dedicated to animals .

8 – Atlantica Cesenatico Water Park
This is a large water park where you can spend a day full of fun and relaxation .

Swimming pools and swirling slides are also suitable for children, and one of the most particular attractions is the swimming pool in which artificial waves are played.
Inside the park there is also a green area , where you can do physical exercise in the playgrounds, or sit on the lawn for a picnic.

9 – Piazza Andrea Costa and Ferris wheel

There are three main squares : the historic Piazza delle Conserve, the suggestive Piazza Spose dei Marinai with the statue depicting a woman who, together with her two children, sees her husband’s longed-for return from the sea, and Piazza Andrea Costa, the most popular with citizens and tourists. In this square various events and shows are organized, especially in summer, among the most important events the Pink Night stands out, the engaging party that extends over the entire Romagna Riviera in the first weekend of July.
Music, concerts and events enliven Piazza Andrea Costa, where the skyscraper also standsbuilt in 1958 by the Marinella company and which currently houses private houses and a residence, and the Ferris wheel , 31 meters high, from which you can admire the sea, the beach and the entire panorama that branches out over Cesenatico.

10 – Roman kilns Ca ‘Turchi
This small archaeological site is located in the early countryside around Cesenatico and was discovered in the 1970s, during the plowing of the land on the Fornari farm.
These are two large furnaces whose combustion chambers have been preserved, and from the surveys carried out it seems that it was a site used for the production of statues and tiles .
Furnaces of this kind were widespread in the region between the 1st and 2nd centuries AD and the numerous fragments of statues found in the area suggest that their production was intended for the decoration of gardens, villas and prestigious residences or for donations to sanctuaries and religious buildings.

Start the day by having breakfast at the tables of the Cafe Marivaux, located near your first stop: the Maritime Museum .
