Fear of dogs . I’ve been sucking up on this for days. But here, when I was now desperate and convinced I would not be able to write even a line, I found inspiration. And for me it is difficult, because I do not understand the fear of dogs. I think it is irrational. So it’s hard to write about something you can’t understand. But here we are.
To tell the truth, I don’t even understand those who don’t like dogs, but the Latins come to their aid for this: the ancient de gustobus non est disputandum (there is no question about tastes), in spite of myself, also applies to dogs and not. I can only bow to the wisdom of my ancestors. But fear is another thing.

A question of evolution
Why is another thing?
Because to be afraid you need to have a reason and objectively and evolutionarily, the fear of dogs has no reasons. Let’s think about it: Dogs evolved with humans. And there is even talk of convergent evolution.
Dogs have served humans for thousands of years and in modern times they have also assumed very delicate roles: they accompany the blind, they do pet therapy, they assist the police. And that’s not all: over the millennia, to be more pleasant for humans, their bodies and behaviors have also changed. Not to mention the amazing benefits just watching a dog has for humans’ bodies and minds – benefits that are scientifically proven. And the bites
Some might say yes, but dogs bite. Yes, that’s right, but biting isn’t normal for dogs . On the contrary: not biting is one of the first rules of their canine code of behavior and they already learn it in a few weeks, when they are still with their mother and siblings.
Statistically there are very few dog bites and even fewer are the serious ones for which the fear of dogs cannot be explained or justified with bites. Culture and false beliefs
In my opinion, fear of dogs ultimately comes down to cultural issues and not knowing who these extraordinary animals really are. There are environments hostile to dogs, for no reason other than that they are dogs. And there is a sea of people who know nothing about who dogs really are but are convinced that they know everything.
This is one of the big problems dogs suffer from: everyone knows everything about them and the vast majority of what is known is wrong . Being afraid of the different and of the unknown is one of the great limitations of man. Racism remembers nothing
And bad dogs
There are no bad dogs to be afraid of
Yes, but dogs in general are not bad. The species is not bad: there are some bad dogs, as in the human species there are some criminals, but in the normal world in which normal people move, the chances of meeting them, and therefore of legitimately being afraid of them, are infinitesimal. Furthermore, if they have good owners, even then there is no reason to be afraid of them.
Considering that dogs are totally dependent on humans, more than dogs you need to be afraid of bad owners . Who does not handle his dog correctly is a problem for everyone, even if his dog is an angel who has fallen to earth, let alone if it is complicated.
