The Ministry of Health and Families of the Andalusian Government begins this Monday, October 18, the administration of the third dose of the vaccine against Covid-19 from Pfizer or Moderna to those over 70 years of age, in which they have spent more six months after receiving the second dose. This third dose against the coronavirus has already been advanced to immunosuppressed patients and in residences.
This vaccination will be carried out in primary care centers where they will be offered to be inoculated with the third dose of Covid-19 together with the flu vaccine. To do this, they must request an appointment through ClicSalud+, through the mobile application and the Salud Responde telephone number ( 955 54 50 60 ) and also at their health center, preferably by telephone.
It should be remembered that the Public Health Commission, in which the autonomous communities and the Ministry of Health are represented, agreed on October 5 to administer this third booster dose to those over 70 years of age, who will be followed by the group of 65 years, as well as carrying out this vaccination together with the flu vaccine , as various communities, including Andalusia, have demanded. There are internal reports that guarantee that it could be done as long as they are inoculated “in different anatomical places”.
In addition, after this Friday the flu vaccine began to be administered to people institutionalized in nursing homes and in disability centers, this Monday the campaign against the flu begins for those over 65, regardless of whether or not they have pathologies, people over six months of age with chronic pathologies, as well as pregnant and puerperal women.
In total, almost 52,600 doses against the flu will be administered throughout Andalusia and it has been the first autonomous community to start the 2021/2022 campaign. In addition, the administration of the vaccine to nursing home workers and to all health and socio-health personnel in Andalusia has begun. In total, 1,645,000 doses of vaccines have been purchased.
On the other hand, the Andalusian Health Service (SAS) is once again organizing new mass vaccination days against Covid-19 without an appointment to continue advancing in the immunization of the population and facilitate the administration of both first and second doses to people older than 12 years not yet vaccinated.
The Board has recalled that people who have passed the coronavirus, if they are between 12 and 65 years old, must wait at least four weeks to be vaccinated. In addition, users who request vaccination by appointment at the fixed points enabled will continue to be served.
