Crowned undisputed queen of the half marathon, Kenyan J oyciline Jepkosgei manages to break another world record.
This time the success comes exactly where the World Half Marathon World Championship will be held in 2018 , namely the city of Valencia, Spain.
Yesterday, 22 October, the race organized by the IAAF, known as the Valencia Trinidad Alfonso EDP Half Marathon , was held . This race takes place every year in autumn and runs throughout the city of Valencia, which for the occasion is filled with runners of 12 different nationalities, representing every continent.
J oyciline Jepkosgeiand managed to beat its own record and establish itself once again as the strongest, finding a wide consensus. His new record of her and hers of 1h04’51 ” which for just one second exceeds the previous one obtained in Prague in April.
The race that you saw her triumph yesterday, however, was not without difficulties for the Kenyan, who especially in the last part of the course felt a certain tiredness. The determination of the young woman and the desire to overcome that very important record pushed her to give herself the final impetus that was needed to improve her previous performance.
Thus Joyciline Jepkosgei proved once again that willpower plays a fundamental role during top-level races such as yesterday’s half marathon in Valencia.
The goal of the marathon runner who, at the age of 23, has already obtained very important international awards, has been widely achieved, with a race very similar to the one that took place in Prague.
the winners of the half marathon of Valencia
In the women’s category, Kenya becomes the absolute protagonist in Valencia, because in addition to rewarding the record-breaking athlete Jepkosgei, it sees two other compatriots of the winner on the podium: in second place goes Fancy Chemutai with a time of 1h05’36 “and in third place we find Lucy Cheruyot with a time of 1h07’30”.
In the men’s category the fastest of the Spanish half marathon is Abraham Cheroben , who crossed the finish line in 59’11 ”. On the podium we find him together with two Ethiopian athletes, Leul Gebresilase, who arrives in 59’12 “and Fikadu Haftu, in 59’22”.
The great revelation of the Spanish half marathon in the men’s category is the Norwegian Sondre Moen, who achieves a national record of 59’47 ”.
It is therefore they, Jepkosgei and Cheroben, who are the fastest, just as the forecasts that do not disappoint expectations said.
But, in the Valencia Trinidad Alfonso EDP Half Marathon, it is she who causes a sensation: Joyciline Jepkosgei ,who accomplishes another historic feat, such as the one that elected her the first woman who managed to travel 10 k in less than 30 minutes.
