First joint adventure of the Avengers, with Joss Whedon in the director’s chair and the a priori difficult task of combining so many heroes: Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye.
But the six lead actors ( Mark Ruffalo replaces Edward Norton) fit together perfectly, especially in moments of comic relief. And, despite the colossal battle that Lokithrown over New York and them, each character retains their individuality and gets screen time to develop and evolve. A company that would become more complicated as the list of characters expanded. Curiously, these six initial heroes are some of the few survivors with whom the action starts in Avengers: Endgame.
The story
Loki , the brother of Thor, who is still determined to take revenge on the Lord of Thunder, turns to an intermediary of Thanos to help him destroy the Earth, the world under the protection of Thor. Thanos gives him the Scepter (which hides the Mind Stone) and command of legions of creatures called Chitauri in exchange for the Tesseract.
On Earth, Loki not only ran into Thor, but also the rest of the newly assembled Avengers, who frustrated his plans, but not before destroying New York between them. Loki is captured (after a hilarious hand-to-hand fight with the Hulk ) and is taken back to Asgard by Thor, along with the Tesseract.

Plot connections to the Infinity Saga
Two gems appear in this film: the Tesseract and Loki’s Scepter, which hides the Mind gem and which reaches the hands of Thor’s adoptive brother as part of Thanos’ plan to seize the six stones, a plan that culminates in Infinity War.
