Amazon announced this morning that at the end of this summer it will open its new robotic logistics center in Seville, which according to the company will be equipped with cutting-edge technology.
With this new center, located in the Dos Hermanas Megapark business park , just 14 kilometers from Seville, Amazon will create more than 1,000 permanent jobs in three years, which will be added to the 7,000 jobs of these characteristics that the multinational already maintains in Spain.
Amazon will soon begin hiring for this logistics center, whose positions will range from operations managers, through engineers, IT, human resources or personnel to handle customer orders.

Labor conditions

The hiring of warehouse employees , which will include the Most of the staff of this center will start gradually in the coming weeks.
“All these personnel will be hired under the Collective Agreement of Logistics Operators of the Province of Seville, with a base salary of more than 14,500 euros gross and an extensive package of benefits,” they assured from Amazon.

The new logistics center, covering nearly 200,000 square meters, will also be equipped with the advanced technology of Amazon Robotics , focused on the safety and well-being of employees.
“This technology is part of the innovations that Amazon has introduced to support the employees of the logistics centers, since it reduces the time spent traveling, by making the shelves come to them,” they indicated from the US multinational.
The new logistics center will have integrated energy saving technology, which will help reduce the CO2 footprint.
Likewise, it will have solar panels on the roof and low energy consumption systems, “such as the use of LEDs, which will provide excellent lighting for employees.”
The ventilation systems will include heat and energy recovery technology, and the windows, roof and facades will have high thermal efficiency to guarantee insulation.
Finally, outside the building, landscaping will be carried out to maintain the balance of the area’s biodiversity.

Commitment to Spain

“We are proud to expand our network of operations with this new logistics center in Seville, equipped with the latest generation of robotic technology,” said Roy Perticucci , vice president of Customer Fulfilment for Amazon in Europe.
“Since we started our business activities in Spain in 2011, we have invested more than €2.9 billion in infrastructure and facilities, transport and shipping, as well as salaries and benefits for our employees. In addition, we have also committed to investing in renewable energy. as a critical step to combat our global carbon footprint,” added the company executive.
The Seville facilities will be Amazon’s fourth automated center in Spain , as it will join those in El Prat and Castellbisbal, and a automated distribution center in Barbera del Valles.
This new center will be used by the company to store, prepare and manage products and support Amazon operations in Spain and throughout Europe.
The company has invested 2,900 million euros in Spain between 2011 and 2018 in infrastructure, shipments, salaries and benefits for employees.
The investments made also include two software development centers in Madrid and Barcelona which, at the end of 2019, employed around 300 engineers, software developers, data scientists, machine learning experts and cloud experts.
