The former coach of Cadiz Alvaro Cervera, dismissed from his position after seven seasons at the club, in which he achieved promotion to the First Division and a permanence, stated this Wednesday that throughout his career he has had “hard moments” and of “friction” with the president, Manuel Vizcaino .
Cervera said goodbye at a press conference in which he assured that his current relationship with the head of the public limited company “was good now” , but that in the past he had the “feeling” that from the presidency of the club “he try to see” if he “tired” of his position.
The Spanish-Guinean coach declared that, in his opinion, the path of the current season began to go wrong on September 26, which is when he sees that “this year is going to be more complicated” and that the objective of permanence “It’s going to get more uphill.” That day, Cadiz lost 3-1 on matchday seven at Rayo Vallecano ‘s home and after the game several players went out to a disco. “Apart from the difficulties that exist in soccer, I thought there would be one more difficulty,” Cervera said, referring to alleged interference in his disciplinary decisions.
The former Cadista coach admitted that after the match against Valencia the following day (0-0) he had a conversation with the president that “was not pleasant”. The coach did not confirm whether his dismissal letter had alluded to an alleged inability to lead the squad: “if he puts it, it will be what they think, of course,” Cervera said.

“Something has gone wrong”

The one who was coach of the club since 2016 related the poor classification of Cadiz , penultimate four points from permanence, to the fact that “surely” they have “failed in many things”. Alvaro Cervera did not want to assess whether there has been a “lack of investment” in reinforcements, “but something has been missing,” he asserted. The former coach described the permanence achieved last year as a “miracle”: “I already said that we should not get confused,” he said.

“Thank you for so much and sorry for so little”, said Cervera, who at the beginning of the press conference recalled the people from the club with whom he has had a close relationship, as well as the fans. Cervera thanked the signs of support received since his dismissal became known and asked that they “put” that encouragement “in favor of the team: I am already past”, he sentenced.
