Alatri, province of Frosinone. He had gone out to spend a Saturday night with his friends, but he never came home on his legs.
Killed with kicks and punches, and died from a fractured skull .
It was the night between 25 and 26 March 2017, he was 21 and his name was Emanuele Morganti .
Bar in Piazza Regina Margherita, a place in the town frequented by young people. Emanuele is at the counter with his girlfriend: a misunderstanding with a group of guys, then the quarrel over a few too many jokes against his girlfriend.
The first thrusts begin. The bouncer of the club intervenes and accompanies them outside. Here Emanuele is surrounded, and the nightmare begins.
A brutal aggression that none of those present, outside the club, interrupts while the boy runs into the street as much as he can, to escape from the pack that chases him. His escape, however, was useless.
“Nine to one. An execution. They left him on the ground unrecognizable. Someone would have even spat on his helpless body. My brother is dead, because he did not agree to be beaten by a drunk at the counter of a bar “.
Talking and Melissa Morganti, sister of the victim, in the episode of ” Ossi di Seppia , what we remember”, available from tomorrow 8 February on RaiPlay (here the link to the full episode).
For the first time, Melissa tells in an intimate way the tragedy that struck her family and upset an entire country.
“Twenty minutes of ferocious aggression – she says, in which a pack of wolves chases a hare that runs away. That she is not defending herself, that she is not responding to the blows but that she is running away. Twenty minutes in which they could stop and they didn’t ”.
Three defendants for the trial on the death of Emanuele Morganti: Michel Fortuna, Paolo Palmisani and Mario Castagnacci, sentenced to fourteen years of imprisonment by the Court of Assizes of Appeal of the Rome court which, in February 2021, granted the defendants a discount two-year sentence, with respect to the first instance sentence issued by the Assize Court of Frosinone.
In the course of the trial, the offense was declassified from voluntary homicide to intentional homicide . The next hearing at the Court of Cassation of Rome will be held on 25 May.
A dramatic story marked by indifference, by omerta. A story that repeats itself a few years later. The same end of Emanuele touches, in fact, to Willy Monteiro , also twenty-one, victim of the fury of another pack: the beating ends only when the boy stops breathing.
And like Emanuele and Willy also Niccolo Ciatti, the twenty-six-year-old Italian killed in a nightclub in Spain and Filippo Limini who left home one evening to have fun with friends and never returned, being a victim in a maxirissa. “Boys killed without a reason by people without a soul”.
The one dedicated to Emanuele Morganti and the nineteenth episode of “Ossi di Seppia, what we remember”, is a non-fiction TV series available on Raiplay and produced by 42 ° Parallelo.
An emotional exploration of the past which, in twenty-six episodes and as many events (which make use of the repertoire taken from the Teche Rai and the photographic archives) traces those facts that have characterized the history of our country and marked our lives.
